Twenty-Four (two dozen) state attorneys general joined together by signing a letter opposing the Biden administration’s policy to mandate that employers with 100 or more workers must act as an agent to the federal government by forcing their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 or get tested weekly, regardless of what the individual worker wants.
“We, the attorneys general of 24 states, write in opposition to your attempt to mandate the vaccination of private citizens. On September 9, you announced that you would be ordering the Department of Labor to issue an emergency temporary standard, under the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act, which would mandate that private sector employers require most of their employees to either get a COVID-19 shot, submit to weekly testing, or be fired.”
How breathtakingly unamerican is it for a president to make such a mandate? To destroy the lives of over 80 million Americans by forcing them to take medicine they don’t want to take, the same medicine that Joe Biden himself trashed all throughout 2020 and said he doesn’t trust the vaccine because Trump had it made. Well, it’s still the Trump vaccine.
“Your plan is disastrous and counterproductive. From a policy perspective, this edict is unlikely to win hearts and minds – it will simply drive further skepticism. And at least some Americans will simply leave the job market instead of complying. This will further strain an already-two-tight labor market, burdening companies and (therefore) threatening the jobs of even those who have received a vaccine. Worse still, many of those who decide to leave their jobs rather than follow your directive will be essential health care workers. This is no idle speculation. A New York hospital recently announced its plans to stop delivering babies after several staff members resigned in the face of New York mandate. And recent polling suggests those frontline health care workers are not outliers. Thus, Mr. President, your vaccination mandate represents not only a threat to individual liberty, but a public health disaster that will displace vulnerable workers and exacerbate a nationwide hospital staffing crisis, with severe consequences for all Americans.”
Can anyone say it’s not true? Biden’s plan will wreck our economy, cause even more people to lose faith in government, and put more Americans in harm’s way when healthcare workers quit because they don’t want to put experimental medicine in their bodies.
“We thus urge you to reconsider your unlawful and harmful plan and allow people to make their own decisions,” the two dozen Republican officials wrote in the letter to Biden. “If your Administration does not alter its course, the undersigned state Attorneys General will seek every available legal option to hold you accountable and uphold the rule of law.”
The attorneys general who joined together in signing the letter were from the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
According to the White House:
“The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is developing a rule that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require any workers who remain unvaccinated to produce a negative test result on at least a weekly basis before coming to work. OSHA will issue an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) to implement this requirement.”
Right now, nearly 64 percent of the US population ages 12 and older has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 74.2 percent of that group has received at least one dose, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The attorneys general said the whole mandate order is illegal.
The Arizona attorney general has already filed a legal challenge against federal vaccine mandates, pointing out that aliens who unlawfully enter the US are not forced to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Although the precise contours of the federal vaccination mandates are not yet clear, the violation of the Equal Protection Clause is already evident and egregious,” the complaint reads. “In a nutshell: unauthorized aliens will not be subject to any vaccination requirements even when released directly into the United States (where most will remain), while roughly a hundred million US citizens will be subject to unprecedented vaccination requirements. This reflects an unmistakable—and unconstitutional—brand of favoritism in favor of unauthorized aliens.”
On top of mandating private sector employers to force their employees to get vaccinated or tested or fired, Biden’s order mandates that federal employees in the Executive branch and contractors that work for the federal government must get vaccinated. They don’t even get the option of getting tested. That goes for all federal employees under the Executive branch except for the over 600,000 Postal workers, many of which work in communities throughout the country and come into contact with people all day, every day.
I don’t recognize my country anymore.
