Kelly Reagan Brunner, a social worker, who works in an (SSLC) state-sponsored living center has been charged with 134 felony counts related to voter fraud.
She requested 67 mail-in ballots, asking as an agent of the patients, some of who are completely incapacitated.
They are ineligible to vote.
She now faces ten years in prison in the great state of Texas.
The state said in a statement:
“Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that his Election Fraud Unit assisted the Limestone County Sheriff and District Attorney in charging Kelly Reagan Brunner, a social worker in the Mexia State Supported Living Center (SSLC), with 134 felony counts of purportedly acting as an agent and of election fraud. State Supported Living Centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Brunner submitted voter registration applications for 67 residents without their signature or effective consent, while purporting to act as their agent.”
“Under Texas law, only a parent, spouse or child who is a qualified voter of the county may act as an agent in registering a person to vote, after being appointed to do so by that person. None of the SSLC patients gave effective consent to be registered, and a number of them have been declared totally mentally incapacitated by a court, thereby making them ineligible to vote in Texas.”
Texas AG Ken Paxton congratulated all of those who helped break the case. They include Limestone County District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, and Elections Office, as well as the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General. Texas strictly enforce voting laws and they actually send people to prison for such offenses.
Paxton said that this case is especially bad since it was committed by someone who is supposed to protect the patients in their care. But in doing this, the social worker took advantage of the most vulnerable citizens in our country.
Earlier this year, Paxton charged 4 people with a total of coincidentally 134 felonies for ballot harvesting scheme perpetrated by Democrats.
Those charged include Charlie Burns, Dewayne Ward, Marlena Jackson and Jackson’s husband Shannon Brown. Brown is a Democrat who served as a Gregg County Commissioner. They are eligible for terms from 6 months in jail to 99 years in prison.
