The founder of a Black Lives Matter (BLM) chapter in St. Paul, Minnesota, Richard Turner, quit the organization telling Fox News on Wednesday that BLM is racist against black children because they openly oppose school choice.
I have been told that for many in the black community school choice is akin to a civil rights issue. Years ago the Democrats fought to keep black children out of public schools and now the Democrats fight to keep black kids in failing public schools. School choice would not only allow black parents to get their children into better schools but the natural selection by parents would force failing public schools to up their game. It would be a win-win for all. It’s their tax dollars that pay for education. Parents have the right to demand that their children’s schools give their kids the best education possible, and if they can’t come through, then parents have the right to send their kids to the school of their choice.
Democrats are against school choice because their overlords, the teachers’ unions, are against them. The unions don’t want to have their members graded on their performance and punished for underperforming. Unions give large amounts of money from the dues their members pay, which is supposed to go toward contract arbitration, to Democrat politicians each election year to make sure that never happens.
Turner said in a video that went viral last week that his decision to walk away from the group was motivated by their views on education.
“I learned they had little concern for rebuilding black families, and they cared even less about improving the quality of education for students in Minneapolis,” Turner said. “That was made clear when they publicly denounced charter schools alongside the teachers’ union.”
Turner is waking up to the reality that he’s been played. Black Lives Matter never was about black lives. It was about pushing Marxism on the United States.
He added, “The moratorium on charter schools does not support rebuilding the black family. But it does create barriers to a better education for black children.”
Turner told Fox News that the moratorium on charter schools was “a direct attack on black families” and “on black children.”
“They’ve been co-opted by teachers unions, specifically at the national level, the American Federation of Teachers, and here locally in Minnesota, Education Minnesota,” Turner said. “These teachers unions own the Democrats, they own BLM, and teachers unions, in my opinion, they kill our children’s hopes and dreams. So, if we’re thinking about black children doing what’s best for black families, we have to start with education.”
Amen and that means more people inside the black community have to come out against BLM. White people will never succeed in that fight. Black families should take the argument to the Fake News media that supports the garbage that comes from BLM activists who don’t care about black families.
“I mean, there’s no way on earth, after these two past school years, that folks can think that things like education savings accounts, aren’t going to be good for families,” Turner said. “I’ll tell you, there’s not one black family in my neighborhood here in St. Paul, that has said, ‘Hey, we don’t want that money to follow our child.’ Anyone who’s in opposition to school choice, charter schools, you’re right, I’d say they’re a racist. Because we know that charter schools are creating opportunities, we know that that money that is supposed to be educating our children.”

In fact, it is known that every time a charter school is opening up in a city in America there is at least 10 times the number of black parents trying to get their children in than there are slots available. That should be a big wake-up call to the Democrats, but it’s not because they would lose all that union money if they served their constituent’s concerns. Democrats will continue to trash Republicans who are for school choice until like everything else they realize they can politicize it to their own advantage. Then, they will come out for school choice and convince everyone with the help of lying leftist media hacks that they were for it all along and the Donald Trump Qanon conspiracy nuts in the Republican Party are the ones who fought against it.
Once again the Democrats are harming black Americans because they care more about their political careers than serving the people who elected them to office, and the media are supporting them by remaining silent. Raise your voice and make them listen.
