Smackdown in Wyoming: Liz Cheney Crushed In Wyoming GOP Straw Poll By Trump-Endorsed Harriet Hageman

On Saturday, Representative Liz Cheney (RINO-WY) was easily defeated in a GOP state straw poll by Trump-endorsed Republican candidate Harriet Hageman.

Cheney lost to Hageman by a vote of 59 to 6 with a total of 74 votes cast in the poll.

After the vote, Hageman told the Star-Tribune, “I think it’s a good sign. It’s not an endorsement, but these are the county activists.”

A spokesperson for Cheney offered a pithy response to the results in a manner only a loser can convey.

“The only elections that matter are in August and November,” Jeremy Adler, spokesman for the Cheney campaign, told the outlet. He should spend more time working on his resume.

Hageman has about seven months to continue growing support for the primary to defeat one of the 10 Republicans who voted with the Democrats to impeach President Donald Trump over fabricated charges that the former president incited the riot that happened on January 6.

It appears that Cheney cannot learn from past mistakes because she keeps running her mouth with false anti-Trump rhetoric, thinking maybe her statements and her work with the January 6 Committee, which is more akin to a Soviet Union Committee that has unconstitutionally set itself up to do a criminal investigation with no judicial overview, will gain support from Wyoming Republicans. Not bloody likely, as my British friends would say.

Cheney accepted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s invitation to sit on the phony baloney committee despite the fact that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) rejected his party’s involvement because he saw the writing on the wall when Pelosi rejected his selections of GOP House members to sit on the committee, Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN). Instead, Pelosi, from the majority party, selected the two biggest and most vocal Trump haters in the House GOP, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger (RINO-IL).

Pelosi will absolutely have the gall to claim any conclusions reached by the committee were reached in a bipartisan manner even though every member of the committee is as partisan as it gets.

Back in November, the Wyoming Republican Party held a vote that concluded that the party will no longer recognize Cheney as a member.

“The 31-29 vote Saturday in Buffalo, Wyoming, by the state party central committee followed votes by local GOP officials in about one-third of Wyoming’s 23 counties to no longer recognize Cheney as a Republican,” the Associated Press reported. “In February, the Wyoming GOP central committee voted overwhelmingly to censure Cheney, Wyoming’s lone U.S. representative, for voting to impeach Trump.”

“The vote marks the Wyoming Republican Party’s second rebuke of Cheney following her vote to impeach former President Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. In February, the same committee voted to censure Cheney,” The Hill reported.

Wyoming News reported when Trump endorsed Harriet Hageman to unseat Cheney back in Early September, 2021:

Hours after receiving an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, Cheyenne attorney Harriet Hageman officially announced her candidacy Thursday to challenge incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney.

Speaking in front of supporters in a small ballroom at Cheyenne’s Little America Hotel and Resort, Hageman said she is running to return the congressional seat “to someone from Wyoming who represents Wyoming’s conservative values, to someone with Wyoming’s best interests at heart.”

In an email statement announcing his endorsement, Trump took shots at Cheney, one of the most vocal Republicans to speak out against the former president. She voted to impeach Trump after the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

“I strongly endorse Republican House of Representatives Candidate Harriet Hageman from Wyoming who is running against warmonger and disloyal Republican, Liz Cheney,” Trump says in the email. “Harriet is a fourth-generation daughter of Wyoming, a very successful attorney, and has the support and respect of a truly great U.S. Senator, Wyoming’s own Cynthia Lummis.”

Referencing Cheney’s break from many of her Republican colleagues, Hageman said that, “Wyoming is entitled to a representative in Congress who remembers who sent her there and remembers what their wishes are. Liz Cheney is doing neither, and I will do both.”

Describing herself as a “constitutional conservative,” Hageman said she would fight against Democrats and elites in Washington, D.C., who she said show contempt for Americans “by demanding to control every aspect of our lives.”
