Gov. Andrew Cuomo had better watch his step should she decide to make Melissa DeRosa the scapegoat in his Covid-19 to the nursing home scandal.
She is not someone to be messed with. Or at least her mother-in-law is no one to be messed with.
Audrey Strauss runs the DOJ office in the Southern District of New York.
As such, she could be the one to prosecute Cuomo over his mishandling of the pandemic in New York.
Cuomo released fake numbers where it comes to deaths by Covid-19, he is likely guilty of obstruction charges.
There could be other charges as well as possible but improbable impeachment since Democrats greatly outnumber Republicans which means Cuomo will get away with murder.
I don’t know any other way to describe what Cuomo did to the nursing home patients, do you?
His assistant Melissa DeRosa already admitted to obstruction in her phone call with top Democratic lawmakers. At least 15,000 seniors living in nursing homes died as a result of his orders to sent Covid positive patients into nursing homes where the most vulnerable Americans live. This led to their deaths. Cuomo blamed the deaths on President Trump, knowing all the time that it was his own idiotic decision that led to mass graves in New York.
Melissa DeRosa, Cuomo’s Assistant, stated to the Democrats on a recent conference call:
“And basically, we froze,” she reportedly said. “Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation.”
She reportedly added: “That played a very large role into this”
“But instead of a mea culpa to the grieving family members of more than 13,000 dead seniors or the critics who say the Health Department spread COVID-19 in the care facilities with a March 25 state Health Department directive that nursing homes admit infected patients, DeRosa tried to make amends with the fellow Democrats for the political inconvenience it caused them.
“So we do apologize,” she said. “I do understand the position that you were put in. I know that it is not fair. It was not our intention to put you in that political position with the Republicans.”It was the NY Post’s Bernadette Hogan, Carl Campanile and Bruce Golding broke this story on February 11.”
“Hogan has been on top of this story since the beginning and has attended most of Cuomo’s press conferences in person. her coverage at the New York Post has kept the nation updated as to the horrific crimes that were being committed by the Cuomo administration in New York’s nursing homes and hospitals by virtue of NYS Department of Health Commissioner Howard Zucker’s Covid-19 public policies”
A bombshell report published by the New York Times Thursday maintains that top aides to Democrat New York Governor Andrew Cuomo rewrote a report that was written by New York Department of Health Officials in June 2020 to alter and remove many of the nursing home deaths that had occurred in the state due to his order forcing nursing homes in the state to take in COVID-positive patients, harming the most vulnerable among us, our seniors.
The Times interviewed anonymous officials in the Cuomo administration who claim the numbers were changed from a desire to protect the governor from political fallout because of his disastrous decision to force nursing homes to take in patients who tested positive for COVID-19. And here’s the kicker. Those changes were made months before a federal investigation into the nursing home deaths started. This is significant news because Melissa DeRosa, a top aide to Cuomo, told a group of New York Democrats on a conference call that they hid the nursing home death numbers because they feared reprisals from the federal government when then-President Donald Trump started questioning how the state was handling the COVID pandemic on Twitter. She essentially admitted to obstruction. Like every other phase of the Cuomo administration’s screw-ups during the pandemic, they tried once again to blame Trump for their failures. Cuomo even tried to blame nursing home staffers for bringing COVID into the nursing homes claiming it was them and not the COVID-positive patients he forced into the nursing homes.
The muckety-muck in the report was focused on whether or not to include “out of facility” deaths, which occurred when nursing home residents were sent back to acute care facilities before they died, in the count of nursing home residents who died due to COVID-19. In other words, if they didn’t die literally in the nursing home then don’t count them as a death even though they caught COVID from COVID-positive patients forced into the nursing home by Cuomo. Department of Health (DOH) officials wanted to include the deaths in the report because that’s what other states were doing. What a bunch of scumbags that litter the Cuomo administration.
Not one of the governor’s aides had any public health expertise yet they pushed back on the DOH in what the Times describes as going “well beyond the usual process of the governor’s office suggesting edits to an agency report,” and caused DOH officials to begin to worry about the report morphing into something that was “no longer a true scientific report.” “TRUST THE SCIENCE!” they say. Furthermore, because it was the Cuomo administration, the health officials said they “feared for their jobs if they did not go along.”
The Cuomo administration, putting politics before the science since 2010.
And if this doesn’t ignite your Bunsen burner I don’t know what will. According to the Times, the decision to hide the data was implemented by DeRosa and Linda Lacewell, and only days later Cuomo asked a state ethics agency for approval to earn money from an advanced payment of $783,000 for a book deal offered by Harper Collins on how well he handled the COVID-19 pandemic which came because Cuomo continuously tooted his own horn about how spectacularly he was handling the pandemic.
Cuomo’s special counsel Beth Garvey commented to the Times saying, “the out-of-facility data was omitted after D.O.H. could not confirm it had been adequately verified,” and claimed that the additional deaths included wouldn’t have changed the conclusions of the report. That completely ignores the malice of the Cuomo administration trying to cover up the true number of deaths from nursing homes just to make Andrew Cuomo look good.
This report doesn’t help the governor being in heap big doo doo over the nursing home deaths scandal, which is under investigation by both the New York Attorney General’s office and federal Department of Justice prosecutors, on top of all the sexual harassment allegations being made against him by women who formerly worked as aides to Cuomo.
New York Democrats are now calling for Cuomo’s resignation, showing signs that the governor’s usefulness to the party is waning.
Andrew Cuomo is a guy that only Woke Supremacists could love. He’s an arrogant incompetent with power, power he obtained through the name recognition of his father. This was the same man who as the HUD secretary for the Bill Clinton administration responded to bank presidents who complained and warned of economic disaster over the administration forcing banks to make knowingly risky mortgages to people the industry’s application process deemed not able to pay the loans back by telling them to put the bad mortgage applicants through the subprime process, which he later accused the banks of doing after the 2008 Housing market crash that was arguably caused by the exacerbations of quotas for making really bad loans. In short, once a scumbag always a scumbag.
We reported when former Deputy Secretary for Economic Development and Special Advisor to Governor Cuomo spanning from March 2015 until October 2018, Lindsey Boylan dropped a bombshell allegation that the New York governor sexually harassed her for years and that it got so bad she would feel sick when she got to work each day and it caused her to finally quit her job.
“Yes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years. Many saw it, and watched.
I could never anticipate what to expect: would I be grilled on my work (which was very good) or harassed about my looks. Or would it be both in the same conversation? This was the way for years.”
After talking to her family about her ordeal, her mother said that Andrew Cuomo was a “sexist pig,” and warned her daughter to stay clear of him.
So now he can add “serial predator” to his abysmal record as both Republicans and Democrats have started calling for his resignation or that he be impeached. Democrat state senators have already called for having his emergency powers stripped.
After Melissa DeRosa, a top aide to the governor, spilled the beans on a conference call with other Democrat leaders around the state that the administration hid the true numbers of COVID-19 deaths from nursing homes, the calls for Cuomo to go only grew.
For his fall from grace, you could almost feel sorry for him except that he is one of the most arrogant and obnoxious jerks you’ve ever had to sit and listen to. The fact that he won an Emmy award for his coronavirus press briefings when the whole time he was an incompetent fraud sullied the reputation of the award reminiscent of when the Nobel committee destroyed its public worth after giving Barack Obama a Nobel Peace Prize before he ever did anything, and then he went on to get us involved in more military skirmishes than his predecessor George W Bush.
I don’t know what is more catastrophic, Cuomo’s acting like a bully, his incompetence, or the fact that high-ranking Democrats across the state knew this all along and said nothing until now.
It doesn’t help their cause when they openly admit it as city Public Advocate Jumaane Williams did on Wednesday when she trashed Cuomo at an anti-Cuomo rally.
“This is who he has always been long before the pandemic . . . It is finally exposing who we knew this governor was all along, from pay-to-play with real estate to pay-to-play with nursing-home owners, to ducking accountability, to passing blame to everyone but himself, to bullying tactics.”
We reported when Assemblyman Ron Kim told the story of receiving a phone call from the governor at night when he was bathing his children to threaten to “destroy” him if he didn’t help obstruct the political firestorm hitting the Cuomo administration’s cover-up of nursing home residents COVID-19 deaths. He tried to force the lawmaker to write a statement to dilute the fallout of DeRosa’s admission that the administration covered up the nursing home deaths data.
“Everyone in New York politics knows he has been abusive for a long time,” Kim told Bloomberg TV, “to his staff, elected officials, even journalists.”
Then where were you this whole time, Kim? Why did you not say anything until now? How come no one in the media has ever asked him that question?
It’s because they all had something in common with Cuomo: their hatred for Donald Trump. Cuomo did a huge reversal on recognition of the help that Trump provided for New York, first praising the former president for all that he did to make sure the state received everything they needed to combat the coronavirus, and then, inexplicably, he did a complete 180 turn around and started bashing Trump, claiming the exact opposite for many of the bullet items he once praised the Trump administration for accomplishing previously.
Cuomo had praises heaped upon him for how wonderful he was during the pandemic. Joe Biden referred to the New York governor as the “gold standard” for leadership, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said she was a big fan of the three-term governor, and much more praise came from Democrats and some Republicans as well as he was silently killing at least 10,000 helpless seniors with his forcing nursing homes to take in COVID-19 positive patients.
In reality, they all knew all along that he was fully unprepared to handle the coronavirus pandemic. Reports came out that the Cuomo administration hadn’t replenished ventilators when they were depleted and this arrogant man insulted President Trump claiming the federal government didn’t “give” him enough of them, even though it was known that several years prior to the pandemic the state had 16,000 fewer ventilators than the 18,000 they needed in case a severe pandemic came along. At that point, the state could have decided to purchase more ventilators to bring them back to the standard that hospitals would need, but instead, the health commissioner, Howard Zucker, created a task force for rationing the ventilators they already had. That means they wanted to use the money to purchase ventilators somewhere else. But it was perfectly fine to blame Donald Trump for New York’s lack of ventilators.
Cumo made some extremely stupid decisions at the start of the pandemic, like when he kept the subway system running but cut down the number of trains, hoping that would nudge workers to either find other modes of transportation or stay home from work during the crisis. Instead, most New Yorkers continued going to work via the trains, and thanks to the Cuomo-imposed shortage of trains the riders were packed in like sardines and that made it much easier to spread the virus.
It’s almost as if Cuomo spent the whole pandemic blaming other people for his own screw ups, like when he recently shifted blame for the thousands of deaths due to his decision to force COVID patients into nursing homes on the nursing home staff themselves, arrogantly claiming that coronavirus didn’t get into the nursing homes by the COVID-positive patients he sent to them, but by the staffers who worked there. It was an unbelievable attempt to skirt responsibility.
Talking about skirting responsibility, Cuomo even wrote a book about how great he handled the coronavirus pandemic before the coronavirus pandemic ended. It was as if he wanted to get a jump on what he knew would be a barrage of complaints and criticisms over his ineptitude throughout the whole ordeal. Everything he did was political, including turning New Yorkers against taking the COVID vaccine simply because it was created through the efforts of the Trump administration removing government red tape to allow the private sector to get it done in record time.
This man was a disaster for New Yorkers yet the mainstream news media loved him because they were able to use him to discredit Trump and blame the former president for every COVID death, which was the whole point from the perspective of the Democratic Party from the very beginning. They hammered every death into the minds of Americans to harm his reelection chances.
I don’t normally relish watching someone’s life fall apart, which is much worse than an ordinary fall from grace, but in this case, I hope Cuomo gets everything he deserves because he’s not a nice person in any sense and he hurt an awful lot of families by putting politics over the concerns of his fellow New Yorkers.
If you have been keeping track of the nursing home scandal in New York State, you are aware of Gov Andrew Cuomo calling up assemblyman Ron Kim and the threatening phone call he got from Cuomo.
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio says that story did not surprise him because that is par for the course for Cuomo. He has a tendency to go through the roof if someone says or writes something he doesn’t like.
de Blasio said:
“It’s a sad thing to say, Mika, but that’s classic Andrew Cuomo. A lot of people in New York state have received those phone calls.”
“The bullying is nothing new. The threats, the belittling, the demand that someone change their statement right that moment — many, many times I’ve heard that and I know a lot of other people in the state that have heard that.”
Former City & State editor-in-chief Morgan Pehme recounted an experience he had with Cuomo:
It was 4:30 a.m., so I pulled the bathroom door shut in my one-bedroom Brooklyn apartment to answer the phone without waking my then-5-year-old. On the line was Melissa DeRosa, Gov. Cuomo’s then-communications director, now his second-in-command. She was threatening to destroy me.
By now, thanks to Queens Assemblyman Ron Kim blowing the whistle on the threats he received in a call from Cuomo, the public has a glimpse of the bullying practiced by the governor and his top brass.
Many Americans are shocked, having bought into the compassionate persona Cuomo conveyed in his pandemic briefings. But Kim’s revelations came as no surprise to anyone who has dealt with the governor. As one Albany insider texted me last week, “everyone has an Andrew Cuomo story.”
Pehme said that he knows what it is like to have Cuomo threaten to destroy you. You may remember the name Melissa DeRosa. She is the one who, in a phone call to top Democrats, told them that the Cuomo administration intentionally fudged the number of nursing home deaths in order to keep the feds from finding out.
I’ll bet she got an earful from Cuomo for that.
After New York Governor Andrew Cuomo sent the equivalent of biological weapons into the state’s nursing homes by forcing COVID-19 patients to be taken in, thousands of elderly residents were killed by the deadly virus.
We reported recently that a top aide to Governor Cuomo, Melissa DeRosa, admitted on a conference call to state Democrats that the Cuomo administration lied about the number of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes, incredibly admitting to federal obstruction of justice claiming they did it because when President Trump started pressuring the Cuomo administration on Twitter over how poorly they were handling the pandemic, DeRosa said they froze from fear, and ultimately hid the numbers because they feared a federal Justice Department investigation.
As COVID-19 was emptying out nursing homes state tallies revealed that a miracle took place in a Long Island home showing that they only suffered one death. Wait, what?
After the Cuomo administration was ordered by a judge to release more complete data that must include nursing home deaths who died in hospitals the total amounted to only three more deaths at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at South Point.
There’s a resident of the Nassau County home who said that even four deaths are a crock because there were at least two or three people who died every day during the height of the virus pandemic. The resident said that there were so many deaths at that nursing home that the beauty parlor had to be turned into a makeshift morgue. Democrats have gotten away with lying so much and for so long that the Cuomo administration must have figured it would be easy to dismiss all the deaths that occurred there due to COVID-19. They are cruel and heartless people.
“The people just disappeared,” said Jeffrey Fischler, 51, who has been at home for two years. Fischler said that his roommate died, and even though he admits he doesn’t know if the roommate died of COVID or not, he said that the corpse was kept in his room for eight hours simply because they ran out of space for where they could move the body.
Nursing homes are supposed to report deaths to the Department of Health, but the fatality rates being so low, including for the New York City area, which apparently was hit hard, raises questions about whether or not the Department of Health made any valid attempts to verify the numbers.
“One or two deaths, that’s a red flag for me,” said Richard Mollot, the head of an advocacy group called Long Term Care Community Coalition. “If you see anomalies that should be a red flag to at least ask questions.”
The FBI and a US Attorney are now investigating the Cuomo administration over the nursing home deaths.
Even the radical progressive Attorney General Letitia James released a damning report last month where she said the state more-than-likely undercounted nursing home deaths by as much as 50%.
The total number of nursing home residents who died is more than 13,000, with some estimates being as much as 15,000.
“There are gaping discrepancies in the data all over the place, even now with all the additional reporting that they’ve finally done,” said Bill Hammond, a senior fellow for health policy at the Empire Center for Public Policy, the organization that filed a FOIA request to get the Cuomo Administration to release more complete data.
Hammond admitted that there is a possibility that some nursing homes were able to keep the virus at bay and have only a few fatalities. It’s funny how human beings are always wont to give the benefit of the doubt to their adversaries, that is unless they are a Democrat politician.
“Nassau was one of the hardest hit places and they would have had to get really lucky,” he said of the Grand Rehabilitation home. Any Democrat worth his communist card would exploit that statement by saying “Yeah, they got really lucky. That’s what happened.”
Stay tuned for more information on the Cuomo nursing home death scandal as we will report anything new when we get it.
A New York state lawmaker says a very angry Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) threatened to “destroy” him if he didn’t help obstruct the political firestorm hitting the Cuomo administration’s cover-up of nursing home residents COVID-19 deaths. Isn’t obstruction a felony under federal law?
On Wednesday, Assemblyman Ron Kim (D-Queens) whose uncle died of COVID-19 in a nursing home said he got a phone call from the governor last Thursday night that quickly went south, with the governor warning him, “You have not seen my wrath.”
The call came shortly after it was reported that a top aide of the governor, Melissa DeRosa, admitted during a conference call with New York state lawmakers that the Cuomo administration hid the true COVID-19 death numbers from nursing homes and said it was because they feared that information would be “used against us” by federal prosecutors. This was after then-President Donald Trump started questioning the competency of the Cuomo administration on its handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
“At first, there was a silence on the phone,” Kim said.
“Then the governor says, ‘Mr. Kim, are you an honorable man?’”
Kim, who was on that February 10 conference call with DeRosa, Cuomo’s secretary, who called Cuomo out over the cover-up in an article by the New York Post, said he was “in the middle of bathing my kids” when he received the call from the governor.
The assemblyman said that Cuomo asked him to draft a new statement “to say that Melissa DeRosa said there was a federal investigation and they had to deal with that first.” The governor of New York not only allegedly obstructed a federal investigation but he allegedly asked a state lawmaker to write a letter full of lies to help cover that up as well.
The conversation rapidly turned dark, Kim said, as Cuomo threatened him saying, “You have not seen my wrath. I have been biting my tongue for months.”
“I can tell the whole world what a bad person you are and you will be finished,” Kim recalled Cuomo saying, ending the vicious rant with, “You will be destroyed.”
Kim said Cuomo was so livid that “my wife could hear the governor yelling into the phone.”
Cuomo asked Kim if he was a lawyer at one point, which the assemblyman is not.
“After that call, we were devastated. My wife didn’t sleep at all,” Kim said.
Kim said that Cuomo later “called me four or five times on Saturday” but he didn’t answer the phone.
Kim has been among Cuomo’s strongest critics since his uncle, Son Kim, died in a nursing home back in April after she showed symptoms of COVID-19. Who can blame him?
It now looks like Democrats, who put up with the governor’s arrogance for way too long during the COVID-19 crisis, are starting to turn on him. On Tuesday, nine state Assembly Democrats accused the governor of federal obstruction of justice in a letter that asks for Governor Cuomo’s COVID-19 emergency powers to be stripped. A number of state Senators also asked for the same.
Cuomo’s spokesman, Rich Azzopardi, issued a nearly 800-word, prepared statement in which he accused Kim of “lying about his conversation with Governor Cuomo Thursday night.” I don’t think anyone believes Azzopardi, especially if you watch any one of Cuomo’s press conferences where he goes all belligerent and arrogant at anyone who questions his actions or authority on the handling of the COVID pandemic in New York.
“ I know because I was one of three other people in the room when the phone call occurred,” Azzopardi said, which probably means the guy who gets Cuomo’s coffee is lying as well. Why would Kim make something up like that?
“At no time did anyone threaten to ‘destroy’ anyone with their ‘wrath’ nor engage in a ‘coverup.’”
He added: “That’s beyond the pale and is, unfortunately, part of a years-long pattern of lies by Mr. Kim against this administration.”
The country witnessed Governor Cuomo go from thanking President Trump for everything he did for New York during the pandemic, and it was a lot of things the president came through on for Cuomo. We then saw the governor, on a dime change his tune and start to trash the president saying he did very little for the state. Andrew Cuomo is a political whore with a very bad temper, and no one thinks Kim made up anything outside of coffee boy and some other sycophants who don’t want to piss off Dear Governor.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and eight other Republican lawmakers on the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee have urged Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL) to open an investigation into Governor Andrew Cuomo’s increasingly troublesome nursing some death scandal.
Wednesday night, the GOP lawmakers sent a letter asking Durbin to schedule hearings into the conduct of the Cuomo administration since it has been reported that it intentionally withheld the COVID-19 death numbers from nursing homes after Cuomo forced COVID-19 positive patients into nursing homes with the most vulnerable of our society for this pandemic virus, the elderly.
“The American people deserve to know the extent to which Governor Cuomo and his senior staff violated the civil rights of New York seniors, lied to the Department of Justice about their actions, and violated federal civil and criminal laws in the process,” the lawmakers wrote.
“That so many people needlessly lost their lives because of the failed policies of Governor Cuomo’s administration — an administration that many have lauded over the past year — is tragic and deserves a full investigation and accounting.”
Of course, you just know that Durbin and his cohorts in the party are going to use the Cuomo administration’s lie that they did it because President Donald Trump was pressuring them on Twitter.
The GOP Senators who signed with Cruz were Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Cornyn (R-TX), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Thom Tillis (R-NC).
In the letter sent to Durbin, the senators said they expect Merrick Garland, President Joe Biden’s attorney general nominee, to commit to investigating this growing scandal.
“When Judge Garland testifies before this Committee, we expect him to commit the Department of Justice to fully investigating this cover-up to determine whether any criminal laws were violated and to prosecute any violations,” they wrote. Not that it will ever happen, because while Democrats make things up against Republicans out of thin air, they rarely ever go after one of their own, and the tyrant governor of New York is most definitely one of their own.
Richard Azzopardi, a spokesman for the governor, slimed on about Cruz’s request, “Every death in this pandemic is a tragedy and shame on the Treason Caucus for exploiting them to distract from fermenting the Capitol insurrection that resulted in the death of a police officer.”
Can you believe that? This putz (a little cultural appropriation) tried to dilute the scandal by referring to a fake scandal against Senator Cruz where in the wake of the Capitol riot on January 6, the Democrats have tried to accuse Cruz of helping to incite the riot while he was inside the Capitol building doing exactly what the Democrats did for the last three Republican White House victories. Azzopardi accused Cruz and the other Republicans of doing exactly what he did in the context of his accusation. The Democrats are sick people.
Last week we reported that a Cuomo top aide, Melissa DeRosa, admitted to a bunch of state Democrats lawmakers that they withheld the COVID-19 nursing home death count over the fear that the numbers would be “used against us” by federal authorities. Isn’t that called obstruction? I thought the Democrats really hated obstruction.
This scandal was made public after New York Attorney General Letitia James reported that she discovered that COVID-19 nursing home deaths were 50 percent higher than Cuomo and the administration claimed.
Also on Wednesday Assemblyman Ron Kim (D-Queens) said he received a threatening phone call from Cuomo last week telling the assemblyman that he’d be “destroyed” if he didn’t help contain the situation. Can you imagine?
Kim said he was “in the middle of bathing my kids,” when Cuomo asked him to write up a statement that would say that DeRosa told state lawmakers that they would comply with federal prosecutors.
Folks, that’s manufacturing false evidence, something the Democrats accused Trump of doing, except unlike the former president, Cuomo allegedly actually did if Kim is telling the truth.
Kim said that during the call Cuomo threatened him saying, “You have not seen my wrath. I have been biting my tongue for months.” The assemblyman said Cuomo then told him, “I can tell the whole world what a bad person you are and you will be finished.” Kim said, and concluded that the governor told him, “You will be destroyed.”
This is worse than any of the lies the Democrats made up about Republicans and apparently it’s a real scandal.
Last month, Cruz introduced an amendment to the COVID-19 relief package that called for a Department Of Justice investigation to determine if officials like Cuomo could be criminally or civilly liable for forcing COVID-19 patients into nursing homes. The senator from Texas shouldn’t hold his breath because there is no way, no how that the Biden DOJ will ever hold Democrats accountable for what they did that ended up killing thousands of seniors.
Cuomo made good on his threats. During a press conference on Wednesday, the governor attacked both Assemblyman Kim and the New York Post for having the gall to expose the nursing home scandal.
It now appears that fellow Democrats, who put up with Cuomo’s arrogance for way too long during the COVID-19 crisis, are now turning on him. On Tuesday, nine state Assembly Democrats accused the governor of federal obstruction of justice in a letter that asks that Cuomo’s COVID-19 emergency powers be stripped. Multiple state Senators asked for the same.
I am admittedly a partisan conservative, but I don’t take too much pleasure watching someone have the world come down on them, but in this case, I think it’s completely justified. Andrew Cuomo has been an obnoxious and arrogant tyrant who not only botched his handling of the pandemic for New Yorkers and not only tried to blame everyone else for his and his administration’s negligence over the nursing home debacle, but he actually wrote a book about what an awesome job he did as governor handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
But, absolutely nothing will happen on the federal level as we now know that President Biden chose not to discuss the scandal during his White House meeting with the governor on Friday, saying “it was not a focus of their conversation or a topic.”
For those of you reading this who are admitted leftists I want you to do something for me. I want you to close your eyes, take some deep, slow breaths, and once your mind has been cleared of everything, think to yourself, what if it was Donald Trump.
New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo is under investigation by the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York as well as the FBI over his deadly nursing home deaths because of his inane rule that sent Covid positive patients to nursing homes where our most vulnerable people live.
They will also be looking into why Cuomo fudged the numbers on how many Covid patients were sent to nursing homes and the number of deaths.
According to reports, the US Attorney’s investigation is in its very early stages meaning it could be a while before they exonerate Cuomo and figure out how to spin it to be Trump’s fault.
The number of nursing home deaths has now reached over 15,000 fatalities.
Cuomo still insists it is not his fault and the lamestream press is backing him on this.
At the same time, they are condemning Florida Gov Ron DeSantis on his handling of the pandemic even though they fared so much better than New York without the Draconian lockdowns and the destruction of their economy.
According to the Albany Times-Union:
“The probe by the U.S. attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York is apparently in its early stages and is focusing on the work of some of the senior members of the governor’s task force, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter who is not authorized to comment publicly.”
“Last March, as the virus began spreading in New York, Cuomo issued a news release listing the 13 initial members of his coronavirus task force, which has been headed by Linda Lacewell, an attorney and former chief of staff for Cuomo. Lacewell is the superintendent of the state Department of Financial Services. Other task force members include state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker, Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa and Beth Garvey, counsel to the governor.”
From The Daily Wire
“It’s unclear whether the federal probe by the office of acting U.S. Attorney Seth D. DuCharme is tied to two letters that Cuomo’s administration received from a civil division attorney at the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., last year seeking information on the state’s nursing home policies and data,” the outlet added.
As one of its first orders of business, Cuomo’s office issued the order requiring nursing homes and other adult care facilities to take recovering coronavirus patients even if they continued to test positive for the virus. The Cuomo administration rescinded the order two months later, but not before hundreds, if not thousands, of potentially contagious COVID-19 patients were sent to nursing facilities, exposing thousands of vulnerable individuals to the deadly virus.
New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo has again shirked responsibility for thousands of New Yorkers who died because he made a command decision to force COVID-19 patients into nursing homes with the most vulnerable of our society, the elderly. The Hollywood freaks gave this man and me for his press briefings on how he was handling coronavirus.
This time, the arrogant tyrant governor blamed nursing home staff for spreading the virus to their patients. Even if true, it wouldn’t have happened if Cuomo had not decided to put elderly nursing home patients in harm’s way by violating the CDC guidelines and forcing COVID-19 patients in the facilities with them. There is no excuse for that kind of incompetence in leadership.
Cuomo said that people who blame him for the needless COVID-19 deaths are creating a “toxic political environment” and spreading “conspiracy theories.”
Nowadays anything a Democrat doesn’t like that is said about them is labeled a conspiracy theory. Well, there’s no conspiracy theory about this. The Cuomo administration forced COVID-19 patients into nursing homes. That’s not a conspiracy theory, it’s fact.
On Monday, Cuomo spoke at the media about the reports that his administration hid their real coronavirus deal count number in nursing homes when President Donald Trump started pressuring them on social media. Democrats are masters at blaming other people for everything they do. Donald Trump was their scapegoat for four years
We reported last week when the New York Post released a bombshell report where Melissa DeRosa, a top aide to the governor, admitted to a group of New York state Democrats on a Zoom call that the governor’s office withheld the information from state lawmakers because, in her words, they froze when President Trump would tweet negatively about the governor’s handling of the pandemic. And the only reason why Trump tweeted negatively about New York’s abysmal handling of the pandemic is that after all, he did for the state of New York during the pandemic, which amounted to a very large list, Andrew Cuomo after already praising him for what he did for his state, months later started bashing the president because that’s what the party told him to do because they had an election to win.
Since the report, a bipartisan number of state lawmakers have called for investigations to begin and they demanded that Cuomo’s emergency powers be revoked.
“Executive powers have nothing to do with nursing homes and the legislature can overturn executive measures,” Cuomo said during his news conference. “We know the virus can’t be mandated within state boundaries or county boundaries. These are public health decisions, not decisions to be made for local politics. I get these are difficult decisions, but otherwise, people die, and these decisions should not be politicized.”
In other words, Cuomo said that he can do anything he wants because the legislature can stop him if they don’t like what he’s doing. What an inept, blundering sad sack of a man. Even so, the whole point is that the legislature didn’t know what he was doing at the time he was doing it because they hid the data.
He laid out “facts” disputing that his administration hid COVID-19 deaths, despite a damning report from New York State Attorney General Letitia James that said Cuomo’s Department of Health neglected to reveal how many people living in nursing homes died in hospitals, undercounting total nursing home COVID-19 deaths as much as 50%. And don’t forget that his aide spilled the beans to members of the New York party
“The DOH has always fully and publicly reported all COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes and hospitals,” Cuomo said. “They have always been fully reported. Nursing homes had the most vulnerable population, we know that. Nationwide, 36% of the deaths are in nursing homes, you know what percent of the population are people in nursing homes? One percent … New York is 34 in nursing home deaths as a percentage of total deaths. 34 out of 50 states. New York state is one of only [nine] states that counts what’s called ‘presumed fatalities’ in nursing homes.”
The governor said last August the Trump administration’s DOJ requested public information on nursing homes.
“We paused the state legislature’s request. We voluntarily complied with the DOJ request for information. Two very different things,” he claimed. “Nursing homes have the most vulnerable populations, we know that!”
Then why did he force COVID-19 patients on them?
He continued, citing “much distortion” surrounding his March 25, 2020, executive order to push coronavirus patients into nursing homes to free hospital space. But we already know that the hospitals never ran out of space. Trump sent the USNS Comfort to New York to help and they never used any of the 1,000 hospital beds.
The AP reported that over 9,000 COVID-19 patients were released from hospitals and sent to nursing homes because of Cuomo’s executive order. Over 15,000 seniors died.
Cuomo said that at the time he made the blundering decision to kill thousands of seniors the CDC’s guidance advised those coronavirus patients leaving hospitals were not very likely to be contagious and they could be moved into nursing homes. It was a lie.
We reported when Seema Verma, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) administrator, told Breitbart that New York’s Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo originally issued guidance that contradicted federal guidelines for nursing homes battling the pandemic virus.
“I just want to make it very clear that our guidance was absolutely crystal clear,” Verma said in an interview late last week. “It was clear and unmistakable. Any insinuation to the contrary is woefully mistaken at best and dishonest at worst. We put out our guidance on March 13. It’s very clear when it says that, I’m actually going to read this to you, it says that: ‘When should a nursing home accept a resident who is diagnosed with DTMNBN-19?’ It says: ‘A nursing home can accept a resident diagnosed with DTMNBN-19 and still under transmission-based precautions,’ which means if this person is infectious you have to take precautions. It says ‘as long as the facility can follow CDC guidance for transmission-based precautions.’ It says: ‘If a nursing home cannot, it must wait until these precautions are discontinued,’ meaning if you are not able to care for this patient—somebody is still positive and you’re not equipped to care for the patient, then you shouldn’t accept the patient into your care. That’s really important because longstanding discharge—when you’re discharging a patient from the hospital, longstanding guidelines require when you transfer them somewhere you transfer them to a place that can take care of their needs whether they’re going home or they’re going to a nursing home or some other facility.”
Cuomo said that of 613 New York nursing homes, 365 received a person from a hospital. Cuomo claimed that during the time his order was active, 98% of these nursing homes already had COVID-19 in their facility prior to admitting hospital patients. But he still ordered COVID-19 positive patients into nursing homes. The man is insufferable!
“COVID did not get into the nursing homes by people coming from hospitals,” Cuomo said. “COVID got into the nursing homes by staff walking into the nursing home when they didn’t know they had COVID.”
“These decisions are not political decisions,” Cuomo said. They were all political decisions. “They’re all made on the best information the medical professionals had at the time. And in New York we talk to the best experts on the globe. And I’ve said to the people of this state many times, nobody’s been here before, nobody knows for sure — COVID is new.” Again, the CMS administrator called bullschtein.
NY State Republican Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt gave following statement:
Governor Cuomo’s failure to apologize this afternoon was a shocking slap in the face to the New Yorkers who have lost loved ones to COVID-19. His inability to take blame for the hurt inflicted on our families by his administration’s relentless disinformation campaign is wrong on every level. The Governor seems incapable of comprehending that it was his Administration at fault, and nobody else. He continues to shift the blame anywhere but upon himself and his top officials. The Governor’s major excuse for the failure of his Administration to provide accurate, timely information to the public was, ‘We were busy.’ This is a pathetic response coming from a man who had the time to publish and promote a book about his pandemic response while New Yorkers clamored for the truth. To be clear, the Senate Republicans were never notified by the Governor’s Administration regarding the Department of Justice request. People want the truth and the only way that can be provided is through investigations by the Department of Justice and the Attorney General. We know this even more now because Senate Democrats have shown they were willing partners in the lies and the coverup. For the thousands of New Yorkers who lost a cherished loved one in a nursing home, for those who can’t get a vaccine because of this governor’s tight fisted yet incompetent administration of vaccines, and for the professionals who felt compelled to resign from a Department of Health driven not by science but by politics, justice must be served.
