On Tuesday, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis delivered a proclamation declaring Sarasota native and Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant the “real winner” of the 500-yard freestyle event at the Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships that took place last Thursday.
As a freshman at the University of Virginia, Weyant came in second to Lia Thomas, the biological man who identifies as a female.
Thomas competed in the men’s division in 2018-19 and ranked 554th in the 200-yard freestyle and now in the women’s division ranks 5th. In the 500 yard freestyle, Thomas was 65th in the country. Now, pretending to have lost his Y chromosome, ranks 1st place in the event this year. In the 1650 freestyle, Thomas ranked 32nd while in the men’s division and is now ranked at 8th.
According to the university, Weyant came in with the third-fastest time in the university’s history, and it was her own fastest career time. But Thomas, the man, beat her by 1.75 seconds, to become the first transgender athlete to win a NCAA Division I title and ruin the sport for women athletes.

I think the tide is turning on the whole transgender women in women’s sports thing. People at first were afraid to say anything. Most Americans don’t want to get into confrontations with people who have mental disorders. There’s something creepy about it. And creepier yet is how progressives and the LGBTQI, or whatever it is this month, were able to convince the NCAA to go along with this lunacy. It is political, and it’s destroying people’s lives.
I’m sorry if you’re offended by my take on the whole thing. You can call yourself whatever you want. You’re a man and you want to call yourself a woman and go around dressing like a woman; more power to you. You have that right. But when your mental illness starts invading other people’s rights and freedoms, that’s where the line should be drawn. Progressives are always telling us we have to go with the “science.” Well, the science says that a biological man is born with a Y chromosome and biological females are born with the X. A person with a Y chromosome putting on a dress, a wig, and high heels doesn’t change the fact that they have a Y chromosome and will forever have a Y chromosome. All the drugs and surgeries in the world can not remove that Y.
Transgender women are robbing biological females of their rights. No, they do not have the right to go into women’s bathrooms, dressing rooms, or to play women’s sports. And it is beyond me how so few people have the power to screw over millions of women who did absolutely nothing to them.
DeSantis and other critics rightfully argue that men have advantages over women biologically that make it unfair to hold competitions directly against each other.
“By allowing men to compete in women’s sports, the NCAA is destroying opportunities for women, making a mockery of its championships, and perpetuating a fraud,” DeSantis said Tuesday.
“In Florida, we reject these lies and recognize Sarasota’s Emma Weyant as the best women’s swimmer in the 500y freestyle.”

During a press conference on Tuesday, the governor praised Weyant as a tough competitor and declared that he would sign a proclamation declaring her the actual winner of the NCAA competition. Good for her!
“If you look at what the NCAA has done by allowing basically men to compete in women’s athletics, in this case, the swimming, you had the number-one woman who finished was from Sarasota. And then Weyant, she won the silver medal, she’s been an absolute superstar her whole career,” DeSantis said. “She trains, I mean, to compete at that level is very, very difficult. And you don’t just roll out of bed and do it. That takes grit, that takes determination, and she’s been an absolute superstar and she had the fastest time of any woman in college athletics.”
And Thomas was allowed to wipe that all away unfairly. People are alleging that Thomas went on and purposely lost some races just so that the enablers can argue that he doesn’t really have an advantage over women. What a joke. Come on, people. What are we doing?
DeSantis said that the NCAA is trying to “destroy women’s athletics” by allowing gender-dysphoric men to compete directly against women.
DeSantis said, “They’re trying to undermine the integrity of the competition, and they’re crowning somebody else the woman’s champion and we think that’s wrong … we’re going to be doing a proclamation saying that Emma is the best female swimmer in the 500-meter freestyle, because she earned that.”
DeSantis went on to say that organizations are committing fraud when they allow men to compete against women because they “identify” as such and that they are “putting ideology ahead of opportunity for women athletes.”
“And I think that there’s just some people that are afraid to speak out and say what they’re doing. But that is what they’re doing. And so in Florida, we’re going to be very clear, when they try to do things like that, when they try to undermine the integrity of competition, when they try to counteract the ability of women to realize their dreams, we are going to speak out about that,” DeSantis said.
People who side with the lunacy are saying it is discrimination against transgenders to want to ban biological men from competing against women. To make the argument against these people, always throw the science back in their faces. The Y chromosome is not a social construct. It’s real, and you can’t get past it.
