Prince Andrew Settles Sexual Abuse Lawsuit With Accuser Virginia Giuffre

Prince Andrew has now settled a lawsuit where he was accused of sexual abuse by Virginia Giuffre in a Manhattan federal court. This was the best avenue for him to pursue because a trial that was scheduled in the fall would have been devastatingly embarrassing for him and for the royal family.

David Boies, Giuffre’s attorney, wrote, “We write jointly with counsel for defendant to advise the Court that the parties reached a settlement,” in a letter Tuesday to US District Judge Lewis Kaplan.

The letter also states that the parties will file a stipulation of dismissal within 30 days after Giuffre receives the settlement amount.

The court documents stipulate that the settlement sum is not going to be disclosed and also that Andrew will make a sizable donation to Giuffre’s charity that helps victims of sexual abuse.

According to the Independent, “Legal experts estimated the settlement to be worth more than £10m, but questions remain about how the royal will fund the sum.” That’s a little over $13 and a half million US.

“Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms. Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks,” the letter reads.

“It is known that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked countless young girls over many years. Prince Andrew regrets his association with Epstein and commends the bravery of Ms. Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others,” the letter continues.

Do you see what they did? They made it appear that Prince Andrew was a bystander while Epstein did all the dirty work. No one gives up that much money when someone else did the crime.

Giuffre accused Andrew in her civil suit, that was filed in August, of sexually abusing her on three different occasions when she was a minor at the urging of Epstein and his pimp Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite. The case alleged intentional infliction of emotional distress and battery.

Giuffre’s legal team was planning to question Shukri Walker, who said she saw the Prince with a woman who could have been Giuffre at a nightcluib in London called Tramp. Giuffre admitted that she danced with Andrew at the club but that was before he forced himself on her for sex at Maxwell’s home in London.

Andrew denied the allegations during a BBC interview in 2019 where he said he never met Giuffre. His denials cost him a lot after a photo appeared  of the Prince and Giuffre from years ago when he assaulted her. On top of personal losses, Andrew had to give up his public duties and royal patronages.

Again, from the Independent:

“The Duke of York is likely to want to appear alongside the royal family at the Duke of Edinburgh’s memorial service next month.

Andrew will undoubtedly be keen to pay his respects to his late father Philip in Westminster Abbey on March 29, in the wake of settling his US civil sexual assault case.

But the duke’s appearance is anything but certain, and has the potential to massively overshadow the high profile occasion honouring Philip’s achievements and life of duty.”

Giuffre was one of the most open and vocal accusers of the late Epstein, who was a convicted pedophile and was found hanged in a Manhattan jail cell where he did not kill himself.

Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking and other charges in December.
