Nancy Pelosi’s House ‘Finally’ Passes Legislation to Protect Families of SCOTUS Justices

Since Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland refused for so long to enforce the law that makes it illegal to protest outside a judge’s home, the Democrats in the House, after taking a lot of heat, have finally passed the measure.

Since Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland refused for so long to enforce the law that makes it illegal to protest outside a judge’s home, the Democrats in the House, after taking a lot of heat, have finally passed a measure that extends security and protection to family members of US Supreme Court justices. The measure passed on Tuesday after the Democrats weren’t able to get a provision they wanted in the bill.

The bill, titled, the Supreme Court Police Parity Act passed 396 – 27. Every No vote was cast by a Democrat while 4 of them didn’t vote.

The US Senate unanimously passed the bill last month, shortly after the unprecedented leak of an initial draft document majority opinion on a Mississippi abortion case that indicated the highest Court in the land was preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The bill now goes to President Joe Biden’s desk for signature,  but who knows what he’ll do with it?

The bill grants the Supreme Court Police and the court’s marshal the authority to order protection for the families of Supreme Court justices or officers if protection is deemed necessary.

The bill allows around the clock protection for SCOTUS family members, according to the two sponsors,  Senators Chris Coons (D-DE) and John Cornyn (R-TX).

House Democrats delayed action on the vote, claiming it was because they wanted protections to extend to family members of justices’ clerks,  which the Republicans were against.

I think the Democrats delayed to send a message to the conservative justices.

“Supreme Court justices already have protection. This is about families of Supreme Court justices, and Democrats were fighting for families of law clerks, employees of Supreme Court. They should have protection, too,” the idiot Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA) said before the House vote.

The problem is, the DOJ took forever to provide protection for the justices outside their homes and now the mobs have momentum to keep breaking the law.

Chief Justice John Roberts is a disgrace for not releasing the decision as soon as the fallout from the leak was realized to mitigate the reaction.

Last werk, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said “no one is in danger” caused by the delay in passing the bill, which drew the ire of Republicans.

I guess Pelosi thinks the arrest of a man who came close to killing Justice Brett Kavanaugh doesn’t mean he was in danger.

“It took House Democrats some time to get this bill to the floor. The reason it took that much time is, it was House Democrats that wanted to get one itty bitty concession out of this bill, to protect the staff of that institution—the United States Supreme Court—but they refused,” said Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX), who voted No because she apparently does not want justices’ families to have protection from her supporters.

The bill “is a talking point” that doesn’t “really do anything,” she added.

Representative Jordan (R-OH) pointed out that every Democrat in the US Senate supported the bill and Republicans cited that an armed man was arrested near the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh just this month, which happened after the Senate approved the legislation.

“We have all known that additional security has been necessary since the Dobbs opinion was leaked last month,” an outraged House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said. “Justice Kavanaugh was targeted by an armed and dangerous man who flew clear across the country to kill him. He had zip ties. He had a plan. And far-left groups have plans to target Justice Amy Coney Barrett and her children. They put out where their children go to school. But Congress kept it here for a month. For a month.”

“These unnecessary delays put the safety of the justices and their families in danger,” he added. “By passing this bill as-is, we’re sending a clear message to the left-wing radicals: you cannot intimidate the Supreme Court justices.”
