In an interview with The Washington Post, Pelosi says impeachment is so “divisive” that it shouldn’t be used barring something “overwhelming.”

In an interview with Washington Post, Monday Nancy Pelosi said that she is not for impeachment of President Trump. While many Democrats are pushing to start impeachment proceedings, Nancy said this,

“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”

She said that unless there is a compelling bipartisan reason for impeachment she doesn’t think they should go that route. But this doesn’t mean Pelosi believes Trump is fit to be president. In the same interview, she was asked if Trump is “fit” to be president.

“No. I don’t think he is. I mean, ethically unfit. Intellectually unfit. Curiosity-wise unfit. No, I don’t think he’s fit to be president of the United States,” she said, before chiding herself for “coming across too negatively.”

Pelosi believes the Democrat Party needs to focus on real issues that Americans are concerned about. Which is understandable with the 2020 elections right around the corner. It might hurt the Democrats if they are only focused on dividing the country more by trying to impeach the president. President Trump believes the Democrats are focusing on impeachment because that’s all they have.

In an interview with CBS on Super Bowl Sunday, Trump said, “The only way they can win, because they can’t win the election, is to bring out the artificial way of impeachment.”
