On Thursday, CBS News’ “60 Minutes” released a sample of an interview with President Donald Trump that showed veteran reporter Lesley Stahl pushing again on the president’s declare that he created the “best economic system in historical past.”
During the clip, Stahl asks the president about his highest domestic priority.
“Well, ultimately, let me tell you, it was happening. We created the greatest economy in the history of our country. And the other side,” Trump began.
And that’s when Stahl cut him off.
“You know that’s not true,” she said.
“It is totally true. Virtually every number was the best. We had the best economy ever. And what was happening is, things were coming together,” he continued as Stahl once again interrupted him. You would think she was a debate moderator.
And the president is 100 percent correct. Before the Chinese virus came in, we had the greatest economy of our lifetime. Unemployment was at record lows for black and Hispanic workers, Asian Americans and women were also doing great. We had over 7 million more jobs than people who could fill them. The stock market was hitting record highs every other day. That’s because Trump cut taxes across the board. If you worked you got a tax cut. He also cut the corporate tax, which has cascading good effects on workers as it generates more jobs and the cost of products and services don’t have to go up. Trump also renegotiated trade deals to make them more fair for the United States and redid NAFTA to make it more equitable for America. He got us out of the disastrous Iran nuclear deal that no one on either side signed anyway. And much, much more great economic news.
Then the Chinese virus came, and Democrat governors and mayors exploited it to make everyone as miserable as possible, so that they could later blame their misery on Trump. This is the game they’ve been playing throughout most of 2020, mostly as an election interference. With lockdowns and business shutdowns they destroyed our great economy, and now the same leftists expect us to believe that Joe Biden will bring us back again, the guy whose economy under 8 years in the Obama administration was a miserable farce, and not Trump, the guy who already proved he can do it and will do it again.
“I asked you what’s the priority? Those are all the good things. What do you want to solve?” she asked.
“Our priority is to get back to normal, to get back to where we were. To have the economy rage and be great with jobs and everybody be happy. And that’s where we’re heading,” Trump said.
The president on Wednesday threatened to launch footage of the interview, which he known as “pretend and biased,” to indicate his aspect of the story earlier than the sit-down is broadcast Sunday night.
He tweeted out a sequence of nonetheless images of him and Stahl within the White Home as they taped the interview on Tuesday.
It was reported that the president stormed out of the interview after Stahl continued to badge him with questions and then constantly interrupt him. These leftists in news are never fair, and for Trump they forget things like civility and decorum. It’s unbelievable.
On Thursday morning, Trump said again that he might be releasing the interview in full.
“I will soon be giving a first in television history full, unedited preview of the vicious attempted ‘takeout’ interview of me by Lesley Stahl of @60Minutes. Watch her constant interruptions & anger. Compare my full, flowing and ‘magnificently brilliant’ answers to their ‘Q’s,’” he wrote, linking to a clip of Stahl standing in the White House without a mask on.
The “60 Minutes” interview is a part of a pre-election special that may also include interviews with Trump and Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic nominee Joe Biden and running mate Sen. Kamala Harris.
