John Owen Brennan, the former President Barack Hussein Obama’s pick to lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) , has been a controversial figure for decades over his alleged support of Communists and his alleged conversion to Islam, as well as currently being a bombastic opponent of President Donald J. Trump.
On Friday Brennan was freaking out on Twitter in reaction to news of the assassination of an Iranian Scientist who led the Islamic Military’s Nuclear Bomb-making program.
Brennan rushed to the defense of the Iranian military, whose citizens are protesting against the military, saying that the cause of death for the bomb maker was a “criminal act and highly reckless”, after years of sowing what the Washington Times calls sedition against President Donald J. Trump, with demands for undermining Trump’s Presidential authority.
In response to an AP article on the matter, that claimed “An Iranian scientist that Israel alleged led the Islamic Republic’s military nuclear program before it was disbanded has been killed in a shootout, Iranian state television said.”
Brennan wrote, “This was a criminal act & highly reckless. It risks lethal retaliation & a new round of regional conflict. Iranian leaders would be wise to wait for the return of responsible American leadership on the global stage & to resist the urge to respond against perceived culprits.
I do not know whether a foreign government authorized or carried out the the murder of Fakhrizadeh. Such an act of state-sponsored terrorism would be a flagrant violation of international law & encourage more governments to carry out lethal attacks against foreign officials.
These assassinations are far different than strikes against terrorist leaders & operatives of groups like al-Qaida & Islamic State, which are not sovereign states. As illegitimate combatants under international law, they can be targeted in order to stop deadly terrorist attacks.”
The AP wrote, “Iran’s foreign minister says there are “serious indications” of an Israeli role in the killing of a top Iranian nuclear scientist. Israel has declined to comment on the attack that has risked further raising tensions across the Mideast.”
It is unclear what Brennan is speculating in his posts on Twitter and if he is possibly using his security clearance status to inappropriately publish information he should not. He also is taking the side of Mullahs, who have caused great distress in Iran for the people.
I covered the story of the assassination here, as well as the ties to the Obama administration:
Brennan’s most recent tirade against Trump happened just a few short days before he ran to the defence of Terrorists:
“For four years, I spoke out vigorously against Donald Trump’s craven dishonesty, corrupt pursuit of personal interests, & trampling of our democratic principles. After serving over three decades in national security, I felt compelled to condemn Trump’s depravity & incompetence,” Brennan wrote in a bizarre rant, claiming he is the victim of Trump and the savior of the Obama Iranian legacy.
No wonder he is upset.
Apparently, Obama’s actions are going to be called into question in international terrorists trials, as the Mullahs Brennan defends are under scrutiny in Belgium.
