You have undoubtedly heard about the Academy Awards when Will Smith went up on stage and slapped Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, even though Will Smith first laughed at the joke.
The next day, everyone, including me, threw in their two cents about the incident, many of them giving their own conjecture as to why Smith went nuts, on live TV, assaulting the host on stage and then throwing two very loud F-Bombs when he rejoined his wife.
It didn’t take long for the real lunatics to blame who else, but Donald Trump, who was not there and had absolutely nothing to do with it. I’m nearly certain neither Smith nor Rock supported Trump, but it goes to show that even two years out of office and Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is still affecting many leftists who should know better.
From my piece on Monday:
And what would a night like that at the Oscars be without a lunatic nut job analyst from CNN blaming everything on the network’s nemesis, Donald Trump? I’m not kidding.
When talking about why the people in the Dolby Theater stuck around after the incident, CNN’s Asha Rangappa said it was because of Trump.
“So did like anyone walk out after that happened??? Or are we getting an independent psychological case study on how Trump got normalized?”
From Fox News:
CNN famously drifted away from its once-nonpartisan style to an anti-Trump, liberal network under former boss Jeff Zucker, who was forced to step down earlier this year. Incoming boss Chis Licht is expected to attempt to steer the network back toward the just-the-facts approach to news that founder Ted Turner intended.
Rangappa, who is one of the network’s more outspoken liberals on social media, was mocked last year for comparing a Southwest pilot who objected to President Biden to an ISIS sympathizer. A pilot on a Southwest flight from Houston to Albuquerque signed off his announcement for passengers by saying, “Let’s Go Brandon,” according to an Associated Press journalist who was reportedly on the flight.
Howard Stern is a man I listened to every morning without fail for years when I lived in the Philly market because I thought he was funny, original, and had a common sense way about him. But over the last several years, he has lost his mind. I don’t think he’s gone fully woke yet, but he’s now a nasty old leftist shrew like David Letterman has become, who is no longer funny and that makes me sad because I really did consider him the king of all media.
Anyway, Stern also made a connection to Trump with the Smith smack incident with Chris Rock.
Stern said at first he thought it was a bit because it was a live television event and there was no security, “not one person came out. Because he’s Will Smith. This is, um, this is how Trump gets away with sh*t. Will Smith and Trump are the same guy.”
“He, open-hand, with a lot of force, smacks right in the mouth on TV,” Stern said. “Now the first thing I said to myself was ‘what the f**k is going on, is this a bit?’ Because where is security? This is a live television event. Not one person came out, because he’s Will Smith, this is um, this is how Trump gets away with sh*t. Will Smith and Trump are the same guy.”

I would love to know what made Stern think of Trump at that very moment. I understand TDS is still affecting east coast elites, but you have to do some real Olympic style stretching to bring Trump in on a scene where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on live television.
