“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own,” said the former US Attorney and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney along with Jenna Ellis another attorney working for the president, in a statement provided Sunday. “She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”
In a statement of her own Powell responded saying, “I agree with the statement today. I will represent #WeThePeople and seek the Truth. I intend to expose all the fraud and let the chips fall where they may. We will not allow the foundations of this great Republic to be destroyed by abject fraud.”
Powell has already given multiple press conferences on behalf of Trump, who included her in a list of lawyers for his team in a Nov. 14 tweet.
“I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend OUR RIGHT to FREE and FAIR ELECTIONS! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph diGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives!”
As we all know, sometimes words get ahead of this president. It’s one of the reasons Democrats and leftists hate him so much. The Left takes Trump literally while Trump supporters take him seriously. When you take this president seriously, you remove all the extra fodder that Fake News outlets love to report on, and you have a president who has had an incredible amount of achievements that have made America great again. He included Powell in the tweet after she made it known that she was investigating voter fraud against the president. Maybe he thought she was hired to the team. Maybe she was and no longer is. It doesn’t really matter, because she claims to have a mountain of evidence against Dominion Voting Systems. That should be the story and not be diluted over a clarification of her not working directly for the president.
On Thursday, Powell appeared with the Trump legal team at a press conference where she, Giuliani, and Ellis made some accusations about massive voter fraud that took place in a number of key battleground states. Of course everyone assumed she was part of the legal team. How could you not? But not being part of that team doesn’t preclude her from speaking there.
Fox’s Tucker Carlson on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” later that night ripped on Powell during his show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” saying that after making huge accusations about voter fraud, the former US Attorney has presented no evidence, and he complained that after “a lot of polite requests” for evidence, that after ignoring Carlson’s requests she finally told him to not contact her again.
“When we kept pressing, she got angry and told us to stop contacting her,” Carlson said on his program. “When we checked with others around the Trump campaign, people in positions of authority, they also told us Powell had never given them any evidence to prove anything she claimed at the press conference.”
Powell told a different story of what happened, saying that she did send the Fox show a document that she hadn’t even entered into evidence yet, and that she had been badgered very rudely by the people who were asking her for examples of evidence, and that her anger was that they should stop contacting her if they’re going to behave that way. So much for a lot of polite requests.
Saturday night Powell made an appearance on Newsmax, where she accused Brian Kemp, Georgia’s Republican governor, and the state’s Republican Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, of being part of a pay-for-play scheme involving a voting-system contract award that she contends harmed Trump’s reelection. In other words, a pay-for-play deal with Dominion Voting Systems to get a contract to use their voting machines in the 2020 election.
“Georgia’s probably going to be the first state I’m going to blow up and Mr. Kemp and the secretary of state need to go with it.” Powell later said that she was planning to file a lawsuit against the state and that it would be “biblical.”
Since Powell took over as legal counsel for Mike Flynn, Emmet Sullivan, a federal judge, rejected her claims of prosecutorial misconduct and has responded quizzically to some of her arguments.
Attorney General William Barr had gotten a US Attorney to take a strong look at the FBI’s case against Flynn, and it was discovered that the FBI lied multiple times and set Flynn up, and so they decided to drop the case against the former Lt. General. When the government and the defense both wish the case to be dropped, it’s just a formality for the presiding judge to sign off on it. But, for some reason, Judge Sullivan has refused and went to extremely unusual lengths to keep the case open. Many believe it’s because the Democratic Party got to him and told him that if he allows the case to be dropped, a lot of bad things would come out against former president Barack Obama, and many high-ranking people in his administration for their roles in the setup of Michael Flynn.
