Stoney Westmoreland, a former Disney Channel actor, was sentenced to two years in a federal prison for trying to lure a minor into having sex with him. What a scumbag.
For the charge of Enticement of a Minor Over the Internet, Westmoreland was facing a 10-year prison sentence, so he made a plea with the prosecutors for a lesser charge of Using Interstate Facilities to Transmit Information About a Minor.
The former Disney Channel actor is required to submit to DNA collection, and he is required to register as a sex offender. All of his electronic devices and/or computers are subject to random searches. Westmoreland must also give the government information about all of his online accounts, including social media accounts and email. He is also barred from contact with minors without adult supervision.
Westmoreland allegedly met a 13-year-old boy on December 13, 2018 on Grindr, which is considered the world’s largest social networking app for LGBTQ+ people. The actor who once portrayed a grandfather on the Disney Channel sitcom “Andi Mack” reportedly shared explicit photos with the boy on the app.
The 13-year-old boy Westmoreland was grooming on Grindr was actually a Salt Lake City police detective where the Disney Channel show is filmed.
According to court documents, Westmoreland traveled to meet the minor using a ridesharing service and was planning to take the young teenager back to his hotel room, but police attested him as he attempted to meet the 13-year-old.
Westmoreland was taken into custody by Salt Lake PD and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force.
The Daily Mail reported, “Two novelty sex toys were seized from the hotel room.” The outlet added, “According to police he ‘admitted to sending nude photos, and that the male who he was speaking with told him he was 13-years-old.”
A lawyer representing Westmoreland told TMZ that his client thought it was an adult roleplaying on the Grindr app. Yeah, and Bigfoot is really Mary, Queen of Scots.
Believe it or not, Disney Channel fired Westmoreland instantly after the arrest.
“Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the series ‘Andi Mack,’ was arrested in Salt Lake City today,” Disney Channel said in 2018. “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week.”
Yet, Disney attacked the Florida government for creating the “Parental Rights in Education” law that bars teachers and school administrators from sexualizing/grooming children inside the classroom.
The actor also made appearances on other well-known TV shows like Better Call Sault, Breaking Bad, NCIS, and Scandal.
