Actually, between January 2018 to June 2021, 265 California companies have relocated out of California, and the prime recipient has been The Lone Start State.
Now, Mark Zuckerberg is joining the long list of corporations fleeing to freedom. Good for him!
Zuckerberg’s Meta, revealed it is going to open offices in a huge new building in Austin, Texas. Big tech corporations, who built themselves up in California, are fleeing the state’s tyranny and relocating to Texas.
This is because blue states like California have high corporate tax rates, job crushing corporate rules and regulations, and ever-increasing housing costs, all of which eventually make corporations leave the most beautiful and most ugly state in the country.
From Austin Business Journal:
“Months of speculation have come to an end as California-based Meta Platforms Inc. — the parent company of Facebook — recently leased the entire commercial half of Sixth and Guadalupe, the 66-story high-rise under construction downtown that will be Austin’s tallest building when finished. The social media company has also pledged hundreds more jobs in the Texas capital.”
Tech companies are learning that blue states suck for business. Many of them supported blue state policies against red states, but I guess the almighty dollar is still a top consideration for companies that want to remain open.
The Austin (very blue city) Chamber of Commerce said that as of November 2020, 35 major companies have either opened new headquarters or relocated to Austin.
Like New York companies relocating to Florida, Texas offers California businesses lower tax rates, reasonable housing costs, are far less corporate restrictions.
What I find troublesome is that Zuckerberg, who is a staunch leftist, has chastised the politics of the Lone Star State as he spent millions of his own dollars to influence the state’s elections and now he’s relocating his company to the much better run state.
Hopefully, the many woke fascist corporate executives who are moving their companies to Texas won’t behave the way Hollywood leftists have in Georgia. California became too expensive to film there over a decade ago, and many producers have chosen Georgia to film as their main locations, because the state, like Texas, is much nicer to businesses. Yet, the leftist transplants from Hollywood started complaining in 2018 that their newly adopted state didn’t act or vote like California liberals who destroyed The Golden State financially, which was the reason they moved out in the first place.
I guess the point is, if you are fleeing from a blue state’s tyranny for the freedoms of a red state, stop and ask yourself if you really want to keep behaving like a leftist in a red state after you contributed to the demise of your former home. Zuckerberg has to do some deep introspection on his business decisions once he’s settled in Texas. Leftists like to live among their own in the miserable existence they foster, and so he has to consider that he really should no longer censor conservative Free Speech or continue to push for all the leftist ideological things he’s known for serving up. In other words, tech corporations who are fleeing California for red states should respect their new homes for the freedoms they will now enjoy and don’t behave in ways that will ruin the red states too.
