DOJ Tells Prosecutors Armed Federal Agents Can Be Sent to Examine Ballot-Counting Locations to Investigate Voter Fraud

The Justice Department has notified prosecutors that armed federal agents can be sent to voting stations where voter fraud is suspected. It is illegal to have armed agents at the polling centers but they are allowed during the counting of ballots. Well, why in the heck aren’t they in Philadelphia or Michigan rooting out what they are doing.

The New York Times is reporting that the Justice Department feels that they can send in armed federal agents if they feel they could be assaulted. That includes any place where votes are being counted. I agree they should be there watching how the count is being conducted and be able to inspect votes that have already been counted.

Senior DOJ official Richard P. Donoghue said:

The law “does not prevent armed federal law enforcement persons from responding to, investigate, or prevent federal crimes at closed polling places or at other locations where votes are being counted.”

“[The statute] does not prevent armed federal law enforcement persons from responding to, investigate, or prevent federal crimes at closed polling places or at other locations where votes are being counted.”

From The NYT

The statute “does not prevent armed federal law enforcement persons from responding to, investigate, or prevent federal crimes at closed polling places or at other locations where votes are being counted,” the official, Richard P. Donoghue, told prosecutors in an email that he sent around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

“Although federal law enforcement officers should act in cooperation with local partners as appropriate,” the statute does not prevent armed federal law enforcement officers from going to ballot-counting venues, Mr. Donoghue added.

A Justice Department spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment made before this article was published on Wednesday. A day later, a department official said in defending the email that it was intended only to make clear that federal law enforcement officials were available to help their state and local counterparts and that the department did not plan to send armed agents anywhere.

I guess what that means is Bill Barr and the DOJ are sitting this one out. He has been a huge disappointment and the same goes for John Durham, whose investigation will come to a quick end if Biden is inaugurated.
