DeSantis Deploys Flame Thrower and Goes After Twitter Board

One thing you can say about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The left hates him because he does not make threats, he makes promises, and then he keeps them. He has decided to end Disneyqa’s special authority for self-rule. They will answer to the two counties in which they own property.

He has now taken aim at the board of directors for Twitter. DeSantis accuses them of breaching its fiduciary duty and making decisions on behalf of the shareholders. The state of Florida owns shares of Twitter, which gives DeSantis the right to inject himself into the battle. The court will have to hear his case should he decide to sue the board because as a shareholder, he does have standing.

It is easy to show that it has damaged the pension fund. It was a poor investment as the stock has been stagnant for many years and Elon Musk’s offer would have reaped a huge profit for the pension fund. DeSantis is also not too thrilled with the reason the board did not give shareholders a choice.

DeSantis said:

“I don’t think that was a rejection based on financial concerns or business judgment. They rejected it because they know they can’t control Elon Musk. They know that he will not accept the narrative and that their little play toy of Twitter, it would not be used to enforce orthodoxy and to basically prop up the regime and these failed legacy media outlets. And so that’s why they did it. It was not, in my judgment, because it wasn’t a good business deal.”

“But I think certainly, in the near term, the fact that they did have this in the pension fund, that gives us the ability to potentially to get some relief. And that’s the thing, when you’re in a situation like this, if the board is acting in ways that is breaching their fiduciary duty for reasons of power or politics and basically serve as a suppression arm of the government, well then you’re in a situation where you need some accountability there. Because first of all, that’s not free-market capitalism when you have that, OK.”

There has been a lot of talk about DeSantis running for president and in any other year I would support that, but this year I can’t. I have to support President Trump. But it is also my wish that he makes DeSantis his running mate. If he does, I foresee twelve years at least in the Oval office. Trump is a smart man and he would give DeSantis the power they cannot give Kamala Harris, who mucks up everything she does. Their motto should be “Twelve More Yeqars.”
