Earlier today we received a heart-wrenching email from mother saying her son, who is a police officer and her son were ambushed while responding to a call. With her permission here is a part of her email.
PASO ROBLES, Calif. – The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Deputy who was shot and seriously injured in Paso Robles Wednesday said he was willing to put his life on the line to protect his community.
Nicholas Dreyfus was shot when responding to an active shooter situation in Paso Robles. The suspected shooter remains wanted by law enforcement.
Earlier this month, Dreyfus wrote about his experience in law enforcement and how he felt drawn to protect his community.
The post was in response to protests that are taking place nationwide regarding police brutality and social injustice.
Dreyfus defended his profession and said he felt discouraged in recent days due to blanket statements regarding police officers. It is important to note that there is no indication that this shooting is at all connected to recent protests.
The post has been shared hundreds of times and has now been filled with words of well wishes and appreciation.
Please pray for all our police officers.
