This is about to get interesting after media outlets pulled a Sandmann and defamed the owner of a Delaware computer store that cost him his business. John Paul Mac Isaac has also included serial defamer Rep Adam Schiff as a defendant. All of them claimed he was lying and his story was Russian disinformation. Isaac is not suing Hunter Biden because he never once denied that the computer was his.
The media underscored a letter from 51 former intel officials that said it was Russian disinformation that neither they, the media, nor Schiff provided even a scintilla of evidence about. They all had a responsibility to check out the accusation for themselves and to point out there was no evidence on the matter. All reported it as fact. Schiff’s immunity is limited to the floor of the House. Anything he says away from that venue, he is responsible for.
Then-Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, quickly refuted the claim at the time, stressing that it was not Russian disinformation but the real deal.
Mac Isaac purportedly took possession of the laptop in 2019 after it was dropped off at his repair shop. The press and Schiff ignored the fact that Hunter signed the repair order and still insisted it was fake. The FBI picked up the laptop and squirreled it away and hid it from the public, but Isaac had made a copy of the hard drive and gave it to Rudy Guiliani.
Mac Isaac filed the lawsuit in Montgomery County, Maryland. His attorney, Brian Della Rocca, told the New York Post that his client is seeking “at least $1 million in compensatory damages [and] punitive damages which will be the much bigger number and will be determined at trial.” Mac Isaac was forced to close his business and temporarily move after the story broke.
Specifically, Mac Isaac accuses Schiff of sharing “with CNN and its viewers a complete and utter lie” when he told CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer after the laptop story broke that the “whole smear on Joe Biden comes from the Kremlin.”
Rocca told the Post that Mac Isaac “suffered immensely at the false statements spread about those who brought the information on Hunter Biden’s laptop to everyone’s attention.
“He has lost his business, friendships, and his honorable standing in his community. This lawsuit is to attempt to repair a small portion of that damage caused by the defendants in the suit,” the lawyer explained. “We intend to show that their actions were intentionally malicious.”
