Black Business Owner Condemns MLB For Pulling Att-Star Game From Atlanta

SOURCE: YouTube video screenshot

We reported last week when Major League Baseball (MLB) decided to pull the All-Star Game from Atlanta because the Woke Supremacy lost its mind over the new election integrity law in Georgia. We later reported that it was the Woke Supremacy’s leftist lunatic Stacey Abrams who threatened the MLB commissioner with player boycotts, with more pressure from race hustlers people like Al Sharpton and LeBron James, a loudmouth who plays basketball really well. Now it’s time to pay the toll.

Minority small-business owners in the surrounding Atlanta area are slamming MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for “punishing the very group” they claim to be “defending” by moving the All-Star Game to Colorado. Atlanta is a city of roughly 51% black residents, while Denver, Colorado is a city of roughly 91% white residents. The revenues from the game were estimated to be around $100 million, and many small businesses are owned by blacks and other people of color. The MLB really sent a message, didn’t they? Stacey Abrams pulled off an AOC but in Georgia.

It is boneheaded moves like this that are killing professional sports financially. People are tuning out because they don’t want to have to listen to the leftist gobbledygook when they are looking to be entertained watching their favorite sports teams, the last place in America where meritocracy was still allowed.

The owner of a limousine service, Darrell Anderson, a black businessman, who would have more than likely seen a significant increase in business during All-Star week said that the move deprived minority business owners of a much-needed opportunity to make up financial losses that occurred from the COVID pandemic.

“As the owner of a transportation service in Atlanta, I know firsthand how badly our community wanted the All-Star Game played here,” Anderson said. “The $100 million in revenue to this area was going to be the opportunity for all of us to recover some of the losses that we incurred during the pandemic. Now, not only is that revenue gone, we may lose even more because conventions that were planned for Atlanta are now up in the air thanks to this decision by the MLB.”

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred decided to move the All-Star Game from Atlanta after Georgia passed a voter reform law better referred to as an election integrity law to prevent voter fraud. Among items in the law, the one that progressives are losing their minds over is a provision that requires voter ID for mail-in voting. Democrats have always made claims that voter ID laws are racist because in their view black people are too stupid to be able to get an ID. Sure, it’s a racist sentiment, but they are leftists, so they get a pass. The law also shortens the time period for requesting an absentee ballot. One thing Democrat whiners never mention is that the law also increases voting opportunities significantly.

A group called the Job Creators Network, which was founded by Bernie Marcus, the co-founder and former CEO of Home Depot, sent a letter to MLB commissioner Manfred relaying the damage his decision did to minority-owned businesses and asked him to reconsider and move the game back to Atlanta. Don’t hold your breath.

“Your decision is punishing the very group you claim to be defending,” Alfredo Ortiz, current president, and CEO for Job Creators Network wrote. “Small businesses in Georgia are hurting and you pulled a multi-million dollar rug out from underneath them…. Don’t let activist groups weaponize America’s pastime to push radical ideas that MLB fans don’t support.”

Anderson condemned the collusion of woke politicians and woke corporations, noting that nothing good can come from politics mixing with sports.

“When Big Business teams up with politicians, they make bad decisions, and small businesses and their hardworking employees suffer the most,” he said. “Politics should be decided at the ballot box. It has no place in making business decisions like where to hold the All-Star Game.” Amen!

In a recent Rasmussen poll, a plurality of black voters said that they are against MLB’s decision to move the All-Star Game out of Atlanta. Fifty-seven percent said they believe it’s a bad idea when sports teams and athletes get involved in politics.

The Left destroys everything it touches.
