Trump tweets ‘VETO!’ after Senate votes to block his border emergency declaration

Republican senators who worried about executive overreach dealt an embarrassing blow to Trump over his national emergency declaration.

On Thursday the Senate voted against President Trump’s national emergency with a 59-41 vote. It was a huge bipartisan effort in fear that this emergency might be a stretch of the presidents’ power.

Trump has already said he will reject the bill. Immediately after the vote, Trump tweeted, “Veto”.

ANd then,

Trump tried to get more GOP support but the following Republicans voted against the emergency declaration:

  • Lamar Alexander of Tennessee
  • Roy Blunt of Missouri
  • Susan Collins of Maine
  • Mike Lee of Utah
  • Jerry Moran of Kansas
  • Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
  • Rand Paul of Kentucky
  • Rob Portman of Ohio
  • Mitt Romney of Utah
  • Marco Rubio of Florida
  • Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
  • Roger Wicker of Mississippi

The veto would be the first of his presidency. Neither chamber appears to have enough support to overcome Trump’s opposition with a two-thirds majority vote.

It is unclear now if House leaders will push for a vote to override the president’s veto. Rep. Joaquin Castro, a Texas Democrat who introduced the House resolution, told reporters Thursday that he will push for another vote even though it will be “very tough” to reach a veto-proof majority. He called it a “consequential constitutional vote.”

President Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen have been working to provide reasons why the border is at the point of a national emergency.

The truth is that the politics and policies of open borders have failed the American people. Our broken system endures, and the ongoing humanitarian and security crisis at our Southwest Border leaves many minors and families at extreme risk of being exploited by traffickers, human smugglers, gangs, and other nefarious actors seeking to profit at their expense,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen. “Activist courts, congressional inaction, and criminals intent on breaking our laws stand in the way of confronting illegal and uncontrolled migration threatening our safety and security. What was a crisis, is now a full-fledged emergency.”

“This cannot be a partisan issue,” Nielsen continued. “Every DHS Secretary since the Department’s inception has sounded the alarm about our unsecured border and its consequences. The American people and our law enforcement personnel rightfully demand effective border security: building the wall, strengthening our laws, and giving the men and women serving on the front lines the tools and resources they need to keep Americans safe. To that end, this Department pledges our unwavering resolve to confronting present and ever-evolving future threats to our national security at our Southwest Border.”

Thursday Trump also tweeted,

In a statement after the vote, Pelosi said Congress voted “on an overwhelming and bipartisan basis” to reject a “sham emergency declaration.”

“President Trump’s emergency declaration is an unlawful power grab that does violence to the Constitution and fundamentally alters the separation of powers,” she said. “This is not an emergency, and the Congress has declared in a strong bipartisan voice that the President’s fearmongering doesn’t make it one.”

This battle for wall is far from over.

Less than half of Republican college students feel safe sharing their beliefs on campus, new survey finds

Less than half of Republican college students feel safe sharing their beliefs on campus, new survey finds

A new survey has detailed how some Republican students do not feel safe to share their political beliefs on college campuses.

A new survey has detailed how some Republican students do not feel safe to share their political beliefs on college campuses.

At CPAC President Trump said he intends to do an Executive Order to guarantee students have free speech at universities and colleges. Campuses have become known to be unfriendly towards conservative students.

OneClass conducted a poll of 1500 college students at 207 campuses. The results revealed that 38% of Republican students say they feel unsafe at school at times. and less than half said they feel welcome on their campus. In addition, 55.1% of Republican students are likely to hide their political views in fear of retaliation in comparison to 15.5% of Democrats are likely to hide their political views.

“Republicans are three times more likely than Democrats to feel unsafe on campus for holding their political views,” OneClass’ Jerry Zheng wrote in a statement accompanying the survey, before referencing the recent alleged attack on conservative activist Hayden Williams at UC-Berkeley last month. “The incident at UC-Berkeley isn’t unheard of. News of conservatives on college campuses getting attacked for their political views make the airwaves frequently enough to make conservatives think twice about exercising their freedom of speech.”

In the coming months, we can expect the Free Speech Executive Order to be introduced and help make campuses a place where all views can be heard without retaliation. Protecting First Amendment Rights.

BREAKING NEWS! Lisa Page admitted Obama DOJ ordered stand-down on Clinton email prosecution, GOP rep says

BREAKING NEWS! Lisa Page admitted Obama DOJ ordered stand-down on Clinton email prosecution, GOP rep says

Breaking News! In a closed-door interview, Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page admitted: ” the FBI was ordered by the Obama DOJ not to consider charging Hillary Clinton for gross negligence in the handling of classified information.”

Page was fired when a series of anti-Trump texts surfaced between her and her FBI boyfriend, Special Agent Peter Strzok during the 2016 presidential election. Many conservatives have suspected there was bias in the DOJ under President Obama.
“So let me if I can, I know I’m testing your memory,” Ratcliffe (Texas Republican) began as he questioned Page under oath, according to a transcript excerpt he posted on Twitter. “But when you say advice you got from the Department, you’re making it sound like it was the Department that told you: You’re not going to charge gross negligence because we’re the prosecutors and we’re telling you we’re not going to —”
Page interrupted: “That is correct,” as Ratcliffe finished his sentence, ” — bring a case based on that.”

This is breaking news, stay tuned for more.

Sporting Good Store will remove firearms from 125 stores amid slumping sales, reports say

Sporting Good Store will remove firearms from 125 stores amid slumping sales, reports say

Dick’s Sporting Goods, which banned assault-style weapons sales after the Parkland shooting, will reportedly pull hunting weapons at 125 stores.

Dick’s Sporting Goods has announced that it will pull guns from 125 stores. After the shooting at Parkland high school, Dick’s stopped selling assault-style guns and raised the age to 21 years of age to purchase guns.

CEO Ed Stack said Tuesday that Dick’s will pull hunting gear from 125 stores starting in around August in response to its slumping sales in those stores, Bloomberg reported, a move that may spread to more stores next year.

Hunting products started vanishing from 10 Dick’s stores last fall as the retailer swapped those items for products such as kayaks and baseball gear. Stack said the stores saw higher sales, margins and foot traffic than when they had guns, according to Bloomberg.

The sagging sales in hunting goods and guns isn’t because there is a lack of interest in purchasing guns. In fact, in May of 2018, the FBI reported record high amounts of background checks for three continuous months.

In May 2018, the FBI processed 2,002,992 queries through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). That’s more than any previous May in the system’s history with May 2017 holding the previous record at 1,942,677. April 2018 saw more NICS checks than any previous April. March 2018 saw more NICS checks than any previous March.

Dick’s admits they did have a decline in sales after they stopped selling assault weapons. They also said their gun sales further declined because of a weak market for gun sales. But the push for more gun control has driven the sales of guns.

The hunting shops are being replaced with items like kayaks and baseball equipment.

In New York, a transgender suspect was arrested for pepper spraying white people. One lady, that was attacked said the first thing the black lady asked her was, “Are you white?” Then she sprayed her with pepper spray in her face.

Another victim said this,

“It lights up your whole face on fire,” Joshua Smith, who was sprayed on his way home from a doctors appointment, said. “Your sinuses, your throat feels like it’s closing up. It’s rough.”

Hate crimes like this are on the rise across the country. This suspect pulled a knife on a witness that tried to intervene. Later witnesses helped the police arrest a 37-year-old transgender named Thomas Herd.

Investigators are now looking into whether Herd is the same person wanted in a string of suspected hate crimes in Manhattan. Multiple people, all of whom are white, were sprayed with an unknown chemical substance near subway stations in Harlem and the Upper West Side around noon on Friday.

Police say the first incident happened on the downtown platform of the 2 and 3 trains at the 125th Street and Lenox Avenue station. The suspect allegedly sprayed five people while walking westbound on 125th Street towards St. Nicholas Avenue, according to police.

Around an hour later, the same person allegedly sprayed a 30-year-old woman while waiting on the subway platform at the 96th Street and Broadway station.

It is reported that 11 white people were attacked over the weekend.

Nancy Pelosi says Trump ‘not worth’ impeaching

In an interview with The Washington Post, Pelosi says impeachment is so “divisive” that it shouldn’t be used barring something “overwhelming.”

In an interview with Washington Post, Monday Nancy Pelosi said that she is not for impeachment of President Trump. While many Democrats are pushing to start impeachment proceedings, Nancy said this,

“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”

She said that unless there is a compelling bipartisan reason for impeachment she doesn’t think they should go that route. But this doesn’t mean Pelosi believes Trump is fit to be president. In the same interview, she was asked if Trump is “fit” to be president.

“No. I don’t think he is. I mean, ethically unfit. Intellectually unfit. Curiosity-wise unfit. No, I don’t think he’s fit to be president of the United States,” she said, before chiding herself for “coming across too negatively.”

Pelosi believes the Democrat Party needs to focus on real issues that Americans are concerned about. Which is understandable with the 2020 elections right around the corner. It might hurt the Democrats if they are only focused on dividing the country more by trying to impeach the president. President Trump believes the Democrats are focusing on impeachment because that’s all they have.

In an interview with CBS on Super Bowl Sunday, Trump said, “The only way they can win, because they can’t win the election, is to bring out the artificial way of impeachment.”
