‘Atlantic’ Article ‘Sources’ Challenged – by CNN?! Stelter: ‘Put Up Or Shut Up!’

By now you’ve no doubt seen references to a Trump-bashing article by @JeffreyGoldberg in The Atlantic. He claims that well-placed “sources” of his inside the government confirm that President Trump said that “Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers'”. Goldberg wrote nearly 1700 words of something I think is indicative of how desperate the Left is. It seems that they’re determined to distract us from the continuous faux pas of various members from Biden to Pelosi on down.

In on particularly inflammatory paragraph, Goldberg wrote [editor’s note-strong language…] :

When McCain died, in August 2018, Trump told his senior staff, according to three sources with direct knowledge of this event, “We’re not going to support that loser’s funeral,” and he became furious, according to witnesses, when he saw flags lowered to half-staff. “What the f**k are we doing that for? Guy was a f**king loser,” the president told aides.

The ‘”sources” claimed that Trump was angry and frustrated at having to accommodate and honor the late John McCain (R-AZ) following his death from brain cancer two years ago.

The president strongly denied the report, but expressed his feelings in a Twitter thread:

Interestingly, McCain’s son-in-law, Ben Domenech, called for Goldberg to reveal the sources and stood up for the president. On Twitter, he wrote, “I’m confident I have better sources within this White House than @JeffreyGoldberg, and I expect that upon investigation his anonymously sourced story will live up to the quality we can expect from The Atlantic under his leadership.”

After returning from a campaign stop in Latrobe, Pennsylvania Trump addressed the controversy surrounding the article at Joint Base Andrews. Noting that the alleged sources “made it up,” he went on to say that “probably it’s a couple of people that have been failures in my administration that I got rid of and I couldn’t get rid of them fast enough.”

The president also affirmed his position that even though he disagreed with McCain, he still respected him:

Oddly enough, in a roundabout way, the president also got an “assist” from a frequent critic, CNN’s ‘media’ analyst, Brian Stelter.

In a segment with fellow network host Don Lemon following the publication of the story, Stelter called on the sources to publicly identify themselves. After all, election day is closing on us quickly, and we should hear it from the horse’s mouth, don’t you agree? Both men falsely claim that Trump regularly denies true stories, so why not?

Stelter said:

“That’s the thing about this — normally the denials from the president and his aides would carry some weight, but for three and a half years the White House has squandered its credibility to the point where its words are essentially worthless, and the denials mean very little. But it is also incumbent on the sources, on the people that are talking to Goldberg, on the people that are talking to other outlets — the president’s denying it explicitly, so it’s put up or shut up time.”

Other Washington journalists expressed their sincere doubts about the credibility of Goldberg’s story.

What made my day was listening to White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany rake the press corps over the coals:

As for the late senator, Trump never called him a “loser.” The reference stems from an out-of-context headline by media outlet FitsNews in which the president commented on McCain’s losing 2008 presidential bid.

It was no secret that McCain was an outspoken critic of Trump’s candidacy. He once referred to the future president’s supporters as “crazies.” And let’s not forget that McCain played a role in advancing the legitimacy of the so-called “Steele dossier.” He had it delivered to Obama’s FBI. The dossier — which was paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign — was used by the bureau to fraudulently obtain surveillance warrants on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

As far as the allegations about Trump’s supposed dislike for the military, I couldn’t disagree more. I admit I had my reservations about voting for him. However, when it came down to the wire, I knew there was NO WAY I would ever support Crooked Hillary. Now-President Donald Trump has since fully won my support, and after seeing how hard the Left has tried to unseat him, I have no doubt I will cast my ballot for his reelection. He’s the only thing left standing between us and complete domination by a communist One World Order.
