Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tip O’Neill, was famous for saying that “all politics is local,” and he was absolutely correct. Conservative talk show host Larry Elder, who is poised to win the governorship in California, understands that and speaks that way to the people of California when he is campaigning. He knows their woes, and he lets them know he feels the same way they do.
According to Breitbart’s Joel Pollak, when he interviewed Elder, he realized the conservative candidate has a grasp on the link between Governor Gavin Newsom’s failure to resolve any of the many serious problems California is facing and the failures of President Joe Biden, especially what’s on display now with Biden’s abysmal failures in Afghanistan. He sees them as two Democrat administrations that are failing due to their incompetence and lack lack of empathy for the people who elected them to office.
That’s what happens when a political party stops working for the people they are supposed to serve, and instead focus all of their energy on gaining and holding onto power.
Pollak said when reporters questioned Newsom about Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan at the point where the ongoing disaster was several days into it, the California governor said he was “incredibly proud” of Biden. He was proud of the president’s complete botching of getting Americans, green card holders, and our Afghan allies out of the country.
It’s really bad when something so messed up as Biden’s handling of evacuations in the now Taliban-controlled country is praised by a Democrat governor who has seemed so out of touch with reality as of a late that it’s no wonder he’s facing a recall election.
When the majority of your efforts are spent worrying about optics over results, rather than admit your mistakes and doing everything you can to fix them, you focus on one thing you think you can spin in your favor and hope that the people will forget about the mountain of incompetence that surrounds you. Such was the case when this week the Biden administration focused on its efforts to airlift several thousand Americans and even more Afghan civilians out of Kabul among the chaos that was created by President Joe Biden.
“Top Biden officials and administration allies have begun aggressively touting the success of their evacuation efforts in the war-torn country, offering frequent updates on the number of evacuees. They’ve framed the operation as historic — in line with the Berlin airlift — declared that they’re “over performing” their own metrics, and trumpeted the president as “defying expectations.”
It’s a startling 180 from the defensive crouch Biden and his team occupied just days ago, one that reflects the sense of combativeness that has emerged in the West Wing as they sort through the first major, sustained crisis of the administration. And while it’s sparked accusations that the president’s team is trying to divert attention away from a crisis of its own creation, Biden’s defenders stress that, for now at least, he deserves to crow.”
Newsom is more than likely hoping that Biden’s approval rating is going to save him in his recall election, but that’s hoping for a Hail Mary because Biden’s approval numbers are dropping fast.
What the voters notice is that it’s not about the withdrawal itself from Afghanistan that’s the problem. Former President Donald Trump also wanted to withdraw. It is the way in which Joe Biden and his administration did it and how they have welcomed defeat that makes it so hard to stomach.
This embracing defeat seems to be a thing with the Democratic Party. Like defunding the police where you accept defeat against a criminal element in your city or state, it seems that the Democrats are no longer fighting to protect their own citizens but rather to protect their own political power. And when you start acting that way, only chaos will ensue. The Democrats accept defeat, because it works for them. They don’t suffer any consequences most of the time for the policies and decisions they make, and accepting defeat is a way of getting rid of your problems. Not so for Newsom because his problems have only just begun.
This explains Governor Newsom’s appearance to have given up trying to solve his state’s most growing problems. Homelessness that has already grown out of control. Crime that is off the charts and rising. An education system that fails students for a lifetime. Housing so expensive normal people can no longer afford to live there. Rolling blackouts for Californians. Forestry mismanagement (going on for decades) causing wildfires every year yet blaming climate change instead, and many more things that have not been remedied causing for the first time more people leaving California than moving to the state.
Californians will usually vote Democrat no matter how bad things are because they don’t know any better. It’s a one-party state. They even put up with Newsom’s draconian COVID lockdown and mask orders over a virus with a 99 percent success rate. But what the people of California can’t put up with is hypocrisy and the utter disrespect Newsom showed when he had Californians locked down like prisoners while he was out partying at an expensive French restaurant with a bunch of his rich friends where no one was wearing a mask and no one was social distancing. More hypocrisy was when the people discovered that the governor sent his own children to an in-person private school while public school children were failing because of Zoom virtual lessons from home. He even kept his own winery open after he forced other California wineries to shut down.
Gavin Newsom became the epitome of a Democrat who doesn’t listen to and couldn’t care less about the people he serves. He has turned his back on his own people just like Joe Biden is now turning his back on Americans stranded in Afghanistan. And that’s how Newsom can say he is proud of the job Biden is doing in Kabul, which is an a wretched failure by any measure.
If California is a bellwether of things to come, the Democrats are in big, heap, doo doo trouble. Californians are not waiting for the next election. They want Newsom gone and September 14 is their big chance to send the message that Democrat voters are no longer confident their leaders can lead. That has implications for the entire country.
The Democrats have been in charge of everything since January and the country has gone to hell in a handbasket. People’s lives are being ruined. Not only is our economy heading for disaster but the Democrats are wont to force people to get vaccinated for COVID against their will. People are afraid of what their government is going to do to them next.
Larry Elder being elected governor would be the smartest thing Californians can do right now. Elder has his finger on the pulse of California’s problems and he has espoused solutions that are common sense, unlike Mr. Newsom, who only looks for an angle for himself.
