At the request of Democratic U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a list of names of individuals who “elected, served, funded, supported, and represented” President Donald Trump – called the “Trump Accountability Project” – is being compiled in the name of holding them “accountable” for the unthinkable action of supporting Trump. She hopes to use this list to censor these individuals social media accounts in the future.
Fortunately for Ocasio-Cortez, a radical political activist has already begun that process.
Former Obama administration staffer Michael Simon said that he is gathering the names of anyone who supported Trump in the 2016 and 2020 election. On the project’s landing site, Simon explained his motivation for this crusade: “the world should never forget those who, when faced with a decision, chose to put their money, their time, and their reputations behind separating children from their families, encouraging racism and anti-Semitism, and negligently causing the unnecessary loss of life and economic devastation from our country’s failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
In the future, these activists hope to use the gathered information to intimidate anyone from hiring a Trump supporter and to shame Republicans for utilizing their Constitutional right.
Once again, communism is rearing its ugly head within our own borders. As is the case throughout history, communist governments and thinkers consistently employ two tactics when attempting to enforce their agendas.
The first is speech censorship. Communist rulers seek to maintain an iron grasp on power for as long as they can. If they can control what is heard, seen and read throughout the media, they can decieve their subjects into thinking they are seeking the best interests of the people when they rue (which they don’t). If you know your history, you will remember that Nazi Germany, Communist Russia and Communist Cuba all did the exact same thing to intimidate their subjects and forcefully retain their power.
Thankfully, this is not how speech works in the United States. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution allows individuals to speak freely without the government interfering or censoring what we say.
Rarely has the world seen a country where its citizens can speak freely without the fear of the government dragging them from home and family for speaking their mind.
The freedom of speech allows for people to demand justice and seek change if they believe that a government has become tyrannical. The voice of the people is the greatest source of accountability in our Republic.
However, Ocasio-Cortez showed a complete and utter disregard for the Constitution and demanded that those who expressed views different than her own be silenced.
If you value freedom and free government, what Ocasio-Cortez said should make your stomach churn.
The second weapon is fear. If governments can threaten you with job loss, tax increases, seizing your land or even death, who would dare speak out against against a government, regardless of how miserable their existence would be?
George Orwell highlights how effective the weapon of fear is in his book Animal Farm. After Old Major (who represents Stalin) and the pigs had taken control of the farm and were abusing their power for selfish gain, the rest of the livestock at Animal Farm “had come to a time when no one dared speak his mind, when fierce, growling dogs roamed everywhere, and when you had to watch your comrades torn to pieces after confessing to shocking crimes.”
In real life, Simon and his cohorts have become dogs for the Communist agenda and are employing fear in an attempt to intimidate anyone who dares express Republican political views.
America, if you value free speech and do not want to live in fear, I implore you to speak out bravely against this dangerous way of thinking. Do not stop calling leaders to accountability and do not be ashamed of valuing freedom. The American way of life and your future depend on how loudly and courageously you use your voice.
