If Joe Biden gets American troops involved in the Russian war with Ukraine, it won’t be because the Russian troops are too good at their jobs. In fact, about a quarter of the Russian troops in Ukraine are now considered “combat ineffective.” The whole situation cannot be overstated just how bad things are going for the Kremlin right now.
Reports were spreading out that there have been mass desertions, Russian soldiers surrendering, and that morale among the Russian troops is so bad that soldiers are shooting themselves in the legs so that they can be sent home.
The supply lines of the Kremlin were hampered early on and that left Russian military equipment in disrepair for dozens of trucks, tanks, and more to be left sitting on the side of Ukrainian roads.
The troops who are still fighting are continuing to “conduct full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine and offensive operations” in the eastern part of Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian military.
Last week, British intelligence experts pointed out just how much of Russia’s army has been rendered “ineffective:”
More than a quarter of troops that Russia sent to fight in Ukraine are now believed to be “combat ineffective,” the United Kingdom announced Monday.
The startling statistic comes as Russia’s bloody invasion of Ukraine is in its 68th day. Prior to the assault from Vladimir Putin’s army, it was estimated that Moscow assembled around 150,000 soldiers to participate in the war.
“At the start of the conflict, Russia committed over 120 battalion tactical groups, approximately 65 percent of its entire ground combat strength,” the U.K. Ministry of Defence said in a tweet. “It is likely that more than a quarter of these units have now been rendered combat ineffective.”
Putin is running this invasion the same way Russians have done it for decades. First, they send in troops that are not the best. They do their job and then fall back when the second group is sent in to do heavy damage. Then, the elite troops go in and finish the battle. Well, those special units are the ones taking most of the hits.
The British ministry added, “Some of Russia’s most elite units, including the VDV Airborne Forces, have suffered the highest levels of attrition,” concluding, “It will probably take years for Russia to reconstitute these forces.”
The world has been watching, and now people are beginning to question if Russia will be able to keep what little of the neighboring country they have been able to take over so far, leading international experts to wonder if Putin’s ego will cause him to decide to ramp up the attacks, which is another tactic Russian armies have always done.
“The threat of missile strikes on military and civilian infrastructure from the territory of the Republic of Belarus by the Russian enemy remains,” the ministry said.
Could the Kremlin madman be thinking about nuclear strikes just to save face? What should frighten us more is that it appears that the Democrats want to get us involved in a hot war with Russia over Ukraine when we have little to no reason to get involved.
