Senator Hirono attempted to make her vote on the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court memorable on Monday evening.
When called to cast her vote, Hirono walked up to the table on the Senate floor, arms folded.
“Hell no,” she said, thrusting her fist forward with a thumbs-down.
She then turned on her heels and walked off the floor.
Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed to the Supreme Court in a vote of 52-48. Only Republicans voted to confirm her (with the exception of Senator Susan Collins of Maine). All Senate Democrats voted against.
Hirono’s office has not responded to media requests for a comment on her display.
The Senator from Hawaii made headlines last week during the confirmation hearings for asking Barrett if she had ever engaged in sexual harassment or abuse, and for scolding the Supreme Court nominee on her use of the term “sexual preference”.
Senator Feinstein had pressed Justice Barrett on cases involving same-sex marriage rights. In response, Barrett told the Senator, “I have never discriminated on the basis of sexual preference and would never discriminate on the basis of sexual preference.”
Hirono picked up on the use of the term quickly and brought it to Barrett’s attention:
“Not once, but twice, you used the term ‘sexual preference’ to describe those in the LGBTQ community,” Hirono said. “Let me make clear: ‘sexual preference’ is an offensive and outdated term. It is used by anti-LGBTQ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice. It is not.”
Hirono has been outspoken in her opposition to Barrett’s confirmation based on how she believes Barrett will rule on cases involving abortion rights and LGBTQ rights.
In her confirmation speech after taking the constitutional oath, Justice Barrett made clear how a judge’s role differs in policy from a legislator’s role:
“It is the job of a Senator to pursue her policy preferences. In fact, it would be a dereliction of duty for her to put policy goals aside. By contrast, it is the job of a judge to resist her policy preferences. It would be a dereliction of duty for her to give in to them.”
As such, she devoted herself to fulfilling her role on the Supreme Court without letting her preferences rise above rule of law:
“The oath that I have solemnly taken tonight means at its core that I will do my job without any fear or favor and that I will do so independently of both the political branches and of my own preferences.”
Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono blasted “the men in this country,” blaming them for sexual assault and urged them to “just shut up and step up” amid allegations of misconduct against President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Of course, men are the problem. As a woman, I find this insulting. Hirono said,
“But really, guess who is perpetuating all of these kinds of actions? It’s the men in this country. And I just want to say to the men in this country: just shut up and step up, do the right thing for a change,” Hirono said.
“Not only do women, like Dr. Ford, who bravely comes forward, need to be heard, but they need to be believed,” Hirono added. “We cannot continue the victimization and the smearing of someone like Dr. Ford.”
First, as a woman, I don’t believe all these women. In this case with Kavanaugh, this woman didn’t file any charges against him. She has been quiet for 30 some years and all of the sudden she wants to be vindicated. And now she is calling for an FBI Investigation BEFORE she is interviewed.
Second, all these women that are falsely claiming they have been sexually victimized are making it harder for those that are real victims from being believed when they file their claims. There is a crying wolf type of thing happening in America and it is being driven by the #metoo movement.
Up until now, the Republicans were the only ones slamming the Biden administration for how it has handled the southern border crisis. President Joe Biden has done a really poor job with the crisis he created. Joe Biden took a fixed immigration system that once again benefitted America instead of benefitting paupers from third world countries at American taxpayer expense, and he turned it upside down almost as soon as he became president. Up until now, Americans have been gaslighted by Democrats with the help of their stenographers in the mainstream news media by being told that there is no crisis at the border, and conditions that are worse than ever before were being denied.
This week we saw three Democrat Senators criticizing the Biden administration’s poor handling of the migrant crisis.
The two Democrat senators from the border state of Arizona criticized Biden for not doing enough to get control of the illegal migrant surge at our southern border.
On Wednesday, Arizona’s Democrat Senator Mark Kelly gave a reaction to Biden’s first joint session address to Congress, saying, “While I share President Biden’s urgency in fixing our broken immigration system, what I didn’t hear tonight was a plan to address the immediate crisis at the border, and I will continue holding this administration accountable to deliver the resources and staffing necessary for a humane, orderly process as we work to improve border security, support local economies, and fix our immigration system.”
When Democrats say they need to “fix our broken immigration system” what they mean is it is broken in that they have to go through hoops and hurdles to get as many future Democrat voters into our system and they want to fix it to make that easier for them. The crisis is just something that gives the party bad optics and they want to avoid that if possible.
The other Arizona Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema reiterated Kelly’s position that Biden hasn’t done enough to address the historic surge at our southern border.
“Senator Sinema has been clear that she, along with Senator Kelly, wants to see more action from the administration to address the border crisis and support Arizona border communities. She’s spoken directly with administration officials on this,” Sinema’s office told Fox News.
Whenever a politician says “has been clear,” or “let me be clear,” or “I have been clear since the beginning,” they’re not being honest with you. People don’t have to point out they have been straight with you if they have. These are border state Democrats and their party is screwing up the immigration process, so they have to say something.
More Democrats came out to give cover for the party. That’s how bad things are at the border. Democrats are actually coming out against a Democrat president, which is unheard of.
The crazy lunatic Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono from Hawaii criticized Vice President Kamala Harris who was made the point person for the southern border crisis back in March to get the migrant surge that is overwhelming our system under control and she hasn’t yet even visited the border to see firsthand what’s going on.
Even the left-wing rag Newsweek noted that Harris has been MIA at the southern border but she “made trips to New Hampshire and other states to promote the administration’s jobs and infrastructure plan and its coronavirus response, with most of her work on the matter occurring in the form of roundtable discussions with experts and meetings with regional leaders.” So the only border state she has visited after being put in charge of the illegal migrant surge is a northern border state.
Margaret Hoover of PBS ask Hirono during an interview, “Will you urge Vice President Harris, who has been tasked with handling this crisis, to visit the border, as she hasn’t yet been there?”
Hirono replied telling Hoover of course she will urge Harris to visit the border and that she has no idea why the vice president hasn’t already done so.
“We have a few other things to deal with, like the pandemic and everything else, so I’m not going to point fingers at her in the sense of — I hope that she will go down to the border,” Hirono said during her appearance on “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover.” “I hope that we can have a comprehensive, ‘whole of government’ approach to what we need to do to have a humane immigration system.”
In other words, Hirono gave her own excuses as to why she hasn’t yet criticized Harris for now taking her job seriously.
“I would call it a crisis,” Hirono said of the problems being faced at the border that are 100% Democrat created.
“We know what is happening,” the senator added. “So whatever you call it, we’re going to need to deal with it. We’re going to need to address it in a humane way.” In other words, she couldn’t wait for the next question.
About mid-April, Biden finally admitted there is a crisis at the southern border and his minions almost immediately fixed Biden’s statement by saying it’s not a crisis but a challenge as if America is nothing but a bunch of nitwits who can’t figure out it’s a catastrophe.
The plan is to increase the number of illegal alien migrants into the US in time for them to be given amnesty so that they can vote in the 2022 midterm elections to keep the disastrous Democrats in power. If they tell you anything different, they are lying to you because that is the plan.
According to reports, two US Senators have announced they will not consider voting for any White candidate, brought by Democrat Joe Biden, who doesn’t identify as LGBTQ.
“Democrats Senators Tammy Duckworth (IL) and Mazie Hirono (HI) say they will vote against all Biden nominees who are not “racial minorities,” They say they will only vote for a white nominee if the nominee is LGBTQ,” Breaking 911 posted on Twitter.
One poster responded that Duckworth’s and Hirono’s statement needed clarification based on a far-left news report, that Hirono will only vote for someone who represents “diversity”, leaving the door open to exactly what she intends:
This happens at the same time the American culture is being forced to embrace new, and severely racist policies in Schools and in business, against White students and families unless they are in the protected class of LGBTQ. So the concern is legitimate.
Chad Pergram, a reporter for Fox News, posted about the matter, clarifying that Duckworth will not vote for anyone who is White and not LGBTQ, and that is a direct punishment she intends for Biden, with whom she is very angry.
Kaitlyn Collins, of far-left CNN posted Biden’s response:
“Asked about concerns raised by Sen. Hirono and Sen. Duckworth on his Cabinet, President Biden tells reporters, “We have the most diverse Cabinet in history. We have a lot of Asian-Americans who are in the Cabinet and sub-Cabinet levels. Our Cabinet is formed.”
In a shocking admission of racism and sexism, using their power and authority to discriminate against US citizens, Glenn Greenwald, an investigative journalist reported, “The two Senators “have pledged to vote no on any White House nominees who aren’t diverse candidates.” “I’m happy to vote for a Hispanic, a Black person, an LGBTQ person, an AAPI person.”–@maziehirono”
Far Left-leaning National Public Radio wrote about their personal point of view:
Sen. Tammy Duckworth and the White House broke an impasse over the Illinois Democrat’s pledge to block President Biden’s nominees who aren’t diverse candidates as a protest over a lack of Asian American representation in the new administration.
Under their deal announced late Tuesday, the White House will add a senior liaison to the community and, in exchange, Duckworth will support Biden’s nominees.
“Senator Duckworth appreciates the Biden administration’s assurances that it will do much more to elevate AAPI voices and perspectives at the highest levels of government, including appointing an AAPI senior White House official to represent the community, secure the confirmation of AAPI appointments and advance policy proposals that are relevant and important to the community,” Ben Gash Garmisa, a Duckworth spokesman, said in a statement. “Accordingly, she will not stand in the way of President Biden’s qualified nominees—which will include more AAPI leaders.”
The about-face came after Duckworth and fellow Democrat Mazie Hirono of Hawaii pledged to vote no on any White House nominees who aren’t diverse candidates. Hirono said late Tuesday she too changed her position.
ABUSE OF POWER
Hirono may have changed her position, however, it is unclear if she will pay any consequences for abusing her power with her admitted sexism and racism. Duckworth apparently intends to hold her line that White people ‘need not apply’.
The former head of the DOJ and accomplished liar Rod Rosenstein who epitomizes the swamp, has finally admitted that he committed perjury in his Senate testimony when he alleged that he did not offer to wear a wire to spy on President Trump.
Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono asked Rosenstein about whether he had offered to0 wear the wire and also whether he floated the idea of implementing the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office.
Rosenstein told her that he never suggested using the 25th Amendment despite several sources that swear he did. But he has in the past denied categorically that he never suggested that he wear a wire.
I guess it is a rule among Democrats to confess to only one lie at a time.
Rosenstein is the one who appointed Robert Mueller to investigate Trump even though he knew the whole thing was a hoax.
Rosenstein also signed documents extending Mueller’s reach at least one time after Mueller went beyond his mandate.
But at the same time that he was boosting the investigation into Trump he ignored the fact that Hillary Clinton was the source for the largest data breach ever by a cabinet officer by using an illegal server to hide her pay-for-play scheme and other possible crimes.
Rosenstein is now admitting he talked with Andrew McCabe about recording President Trump. The Washington Examiner reported:
In his first TV interview since leaving the Trump administration in May 2019, Rosenstein told FOX 5 that there was talk of recording the 45th president for the inquiry but denied that he ever intended to wear a “wire” during the turbulent days that followed Trump firing FBI Director James Comey in 2017 before the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel.
“I had a conversation with Andrew McCabe about an investigation that he was conducting involving the president. And there was a discussion about whether or not the president would be recorded in the course of that investigation. I never intended to wear a wire, and I think that if Mr. McCabe asked me to wear a wire, we would’ve had to reconsider the whole thing. Because you can’t run an investigation and serve as a witness,” Rosenstein said in an episode of the Siege on Democracy podcast published last month.
McCabe, Comey’s deputy who became acting FBI director for a couple months after the firing, made headlines in February 2019, when he corroborated reporting that claimed Rosenstein offered to wear a recording device while talking to other officials to tape Trump secretly.
A group of Democrats have filed an ethics complaint against Sen Josh Hawley and Sen Ted Cruz. Those Democratic Senators include Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Ron Wyden (D-OR), Tina Smith (D-MN), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), and Sherrod Brown (D-OH). These same Democrats never considered filing ethics complaints against any Democrat who did exactly the same in 2001, 2005 and 2017.
In 2001, Maxine Waters objected to the election of George W Bush. In 2005 Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, and then-Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif objected and in 2017 it was radical Rep Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash. None of them were charged with ethics complaints. And for good reason. The law gives members of congress the right to object to the electoral vote.
Objecting to the Counting of One or More Electoral Votes Provisions in 3 U.S.C. §15 include a procedure for making and acting on objections to the counting of one or more of the electoral votes from a state or the District of Columbia. When the certificate or equivalent paper from each state (or the District of Columbia) is read, “the President of the Senate shall call for objections, if any.”
Any such objection must be presented in writing and must be signed by at least one Senator and one Representative. The objection “shall state clearly and concisely, and without argument, the ground thereof. ” During the joint session of January 6, 2001, the presiding officer intervened on several occasions to halt attempts to make speeches under the guise of offering an objection.
Hawley then decided that he had a complaint against the Democrats who failed to recognize his right of free speech or the law allowing members of congress to object to electoral results.
Hawley wrote in his ethics complaint:
In light of the shameful abuse of the ethics process you have deliberately engaged in, I have considered whether I should call for you to resign or be expelled from the Senate. But I continue to believe in the First Amendment, which the US Supreme Court has repeatedly said protects even “offensive” and malicious speech, such as yours.
The First Amendment does not, however, give you carte blanche to abuse the Senate ethics process. I have today filed a complaint with the ethics committee that details your deliberate and partisan abuse of this process, including your apparent coordination with various dark money groups, and requests that you be appropriately disciplined.
Hawley asked the ethics committee if:
Coordinated with the Never Trump organization the Lincoln Project, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), MoveOn, Voto Latino, the Sierra Club, and other outside organizations.
Coordinated with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the Joe Biden administration, and other members of Democrat leadership.
Coordinated with lobbyists for corporations urging the suspension of those corporations’ political contributions.
Hawley asks that the Democratic Senators be punished for using the ethics process to be weaponized against anyone that disagrees with them and to assure they refrain from doing so in the future.
Republican Thom Tillis faced an uphill challenge to his election in November, with a majority of Republicans disliking him so much they booed him loudly at rallies for President Donald J. Trump. Nonetheless, Trump did endorse Tillis, and voters held their nose and elected Tillis for his second term.
It took Tillis absolutely no time whatsoever ever to betray Trump and his supporters, with Tillis go hard left on numerous topics including meeting with open borders proponents in November and now, padding the “stimulus bill” with the great idea of making live streamers into Felons.
Remember, one of the ways the left attempts to shut down independent media is by loudly broadcasting music alongside a broadcaster, causing people to have to shut down their coverage of live events. No doubt this power to criminalize live streaming will be used to censor people.
According to TV Technology:
“Illegally pirating streaming video could put guilty parties in jail thanks to a new bill. The Protecting Lawful Streaming Act introduced by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) was included in the omnibus spending bill of the COVID-19 relief bill that was passed by Congress on Dec. 21.
Under Tillis’ bill, any person that pirates video streams of copyrighted work will have committed a felony act and be subject to either fines or imprisonment. The previous penalty for pirating streaming content was a misdemeanor.
The bill targets large-scale, criminal, for-profit streaming services, not good faith business disputes or noncommercial activities. Nor does it target individuals who access the pirated streams, knowingly or unknowingly.
Streaming has become increasingly popular in the last few years, particularly in 2020, as the global pandemic has changed viewing habits as people have more time during lockdowns. This new bill brings the pirating of streamed content to the same level as other pirating efforts, including the illegal downloading of copyrighted content.
Co-sponsoring the bill with Tillis is Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.).”
Conveniently, this addition to a bill meant to “help the American people” is being shoved down our throats with no debate and no transparency. The Bill flew through both the US House and the US Senate, with civil servants drunk on power, gorging the American taxpayer after a year of financial and emotional struggle.
“Thom Tillis claims the proposed law only targets criminal organizations that stream copyright content as their primary purpose. I am concerned for creators that think their background music, intro/outro, and other regularly occurring music usage is 100% clear… but it’s not. I don’t trust the federal government to be able to distinguish between different music copyright situations effectively. Leadership we have in the federal government is clueless, way too old, and could irresponsibly and unknowingly punish regular people,” @AwallDigital, a former Digital media Executive, posted on Twitter.
So, Swamp dwellers like Tillis found the energy to focus on criminalizing Americans with just one more regulation, while real-life Americans are struggling with massive concerns over many other things. It is clear who the Swamp will protect, and that is not the average American.
In an exchange with the National Review, Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) refused to call for an apology from presidential candidate Joe Biden for using the same offensive term she confronted Judge Amy Coney Barrett for using during confirmation hearings last week.
During Senate confirmation hearings for Judge Barrett, Hirono called the Supreme Court nominee’s use of the term “sexual preference” “offensive and outdated”. She said that term is “used by anti-LGBTQ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice.”
“It is not,” Senator Hirono declared while questioning President Trump’s Supreme Court Justice nominee.
As has been pointed out by many since then, former Vice President Joe Biden used the term “sexual preference” as recently as this past May.
Barrett apologized for her comments. “I certainly didn’t mean and, you know, would never mean to use a term that would cause any offense in the LBGTQ community,” she told Hirono. “So if I did, I greatly apologize for that.”
And when Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) addressed the term as well, Judge Barrett again apologized and clarified her original meaning: “In using that word I did not mean to imply that it is not an immutable characteristic or that it’s solely a preference. I fully respect the rights of the LGBTQ community. Obergefell was an important precedent of the court.”
In the days following, the political left has largely embraced Senator Hirono’s interpretation of “sexual preference”, despite the fact that the term was regularly used by the mass media and political candidates alike. That is, until Judge Barrett used the term.
No one on the political left, however, has asked Biden about his comments in May, nor have they requested an apology.
John McCormack, a Washington correspondent for the National Review, was able to ask Hirono directly about whether Joe Biden should apologize for using the term “sexual preference” during this year’s political campaign.
National Review: Senator, last week at the hearing you mentioned that you thought it was ‘off pensive and outdated’ when Amy Barrett used the (term) ‘sexual preference.’ It turns out that Joe Biden said it in May. Ruth Bader Ginsburg said it in 2017. Some of your colleagues on the Judiciary Committee said it maybe in 2010, 2012. Do you stand by that criticism?
Hirono: Well, of course.
NR: Do you think Joe Biden should apologize for saying that in May?
Hirono: Well, look, it’s a lesson learned for all of us. But when you’re going on the Supreme Court and you’ve been a judge, as one of my judge friends said, you should know what these words mean.
NR: Should Joe Biden apologize, too, like Amy Coney Barrett did?
Hirono: Joe Biden is not up for the Supreme Court.
NR: He’s up for the presidency. So, he shouldn’t apologize?
Hirono: People will decide.
NR: You don’t want to call on him to apologize?
Hirono: Oh, stop it. The world is in flames.
In his piece on the above exchange with Senator Hirono, McCormack also pointed out to major media outlets and public figures who have used the term “sexual preference” with no issue:
“The Huffington Post and The Atlantic have printed “sexual preference” instead of “sexual orientation” in the last six years. A gay-rights advocate used the term in a September 25, 2020, interview with the gay-rights magazine The Advocate. No one condemned or criticized any of the media outlets or Democratic politicians who used the term in the past decade.”
The Democrats are holding up vital funds for Americans once again to benefit them. Pelosi and the Democrats now want Small business funds for media outlets. But the main reason they are doing this is because these media outlets were in trouble before this pandemic even started. Why? Because people are seeking the truth via social media news. Check out this article from Epoch Times.
Senate Democrats are pushing for a proposal that might send as much as $10 billion to local media outlets as part of a fourth CCP virus relief package, while blocking additional rescue funding for small businesses.
“For over a decade, there has been a steady succession of local outlets closing down, reporters being laid off, production schedules cut, and resources tightened as the growth of social media and technology platforms has concentrated critical advertising revenue in the hands of a few,” states an April 8 letter from 19 mostly Democratic senators, to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).
The letter was also addressed to Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) and Vice Chairman Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).
The letter didn’t specify an amount of funding to be provided to local media outlets but referenced proposals from three media trade groups that are seeking $5 billion to $10 billion in such assistance.
“Reliable local news and information has been critically important during the COVID-19 pandemic, yet it has become more scarce,” the letter said.
“Any future stimulus package must contain funding to support this important industry at such a critical time. Such a provision should be tailored to benefit aid recipients who make a long-term commitment to high-quality local news.”
The signers of the letter were led by Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.). The others are Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Sen. Robert Casey Jr. (D-Pa.), Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Sen. Angus King (I-Maine, who caucuses with Democrats), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.), and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).
At the same time, the letter seeking public funding for local media was circulated April 8, Senate Republicans were angrily challenging Democrats to stop blocking a measure that would add $250 billion to the $349 billion under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) for small businesses in the just-passed $2 trillion CCP virus relief package.
“We are seeing a rate of $3.5 billion an hour on a nearly $350 billion program. We have days, not weeks, until PPP runs out of money,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said in a statement on April 8. Rubio is chairman of the chamber’s Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
“Today’s unemployment numbers remind us that now is not the time for congressional horse-trading or partisan politics. Small businesses are being forced to lay off employees and close their doors. I really hope my Democratic colleagues will reconsider their decision to block more money for PPP,” Rubio said.
Similarly, Sen. John Cornyn (D-Texas) issued a statement saying: “The Democrats’ insistence on holding this relief hostage for extraneous funding that isn’t needed is unfathomable. Coronavirus relief is no place for partisan politics, but Senator Schumer just can’t help himself.
“Allowing this fund to run dry and letting countless small businesses fail would be one of the most unconscionable things Senator Schumer and Democrats could do.”
The proposal to provide federal dollars for local media organizations is certain to run into objections that the money would actually be aiding large media conglomerates that own or otherwise control the vast majority of news outlets, including those that were once predominantly owned by local interests.
“Ownership of the country’s daily newspapers was concentrated among the largest 10 companies. Altogether, the largest 10 companies owned 1,500 papers, including almost half—572—of the country’s 1,283 dailies,” according to a 2018 report by the Hussman School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina.
The report said 7 of the 10 biggest companies are either publicly owned corporations such as Gannett or are investment entities like Tronc/Tribune that are owned by hedge and pensions funds, and private equity firms.
The Epoch Times asked spokesmen for the 19 Democratic signers how such recipients would be defined and whether much of the proposed spending would end up benefiting media conglomerates. All but two of the 19 didn’t respond.
