Former majority Senate Leader Harry Reid is warning Democrats about packing the Supreme Court with liberal judges. Reid knows of whence he speaks. Under his watch, he did away with the filibuster on judges that made it possible for Trump to appoint three justices to the court. Packing the court or ending the filibuster would have dire consequences once Republicans have control of the government again.
Reid made his comments just one day after Biden announced a commission into looking at packing the court. Reid told CNN that if Democrats pack the Supreme Court it would backfire on them with consequences they do not want to face in the future.
In fact, Reid warned them about even making threats on packing the court because voters would see this as politicizing the Supreme Court.
“I have no problem with the commission, but I think that the commission is going to come back and disappoint a lot of people because I think they’re going to come back and say, ‘We should just kind of leave it alone.'”
“I think it would be inappropriate at this time after that long history we’ve had in the country to have term limits for judges.”
“I think that we better be very, very careful in saying that we need to expand the Supreme Court. I think we better be very, very, careful.”
“I think we need to be very, very careful” — Harry Reid telling CNN he doesn’t support packing SCOTUS, to @Acosta’s evident disappoinment
The Democrats began lobbying for court-packing after President Trump was able to appoint a justice to replace Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who went from hero to goat for not retiring during the Obama administration.
The Commission’s purpose is to provide an analysis of the principal arguments in the contemporary public debate for and against Supreme Court reform, including an appraisal of the merits and legality of particular reform proposals.
The topics it will examine include the genesis of the reform debate; the Court’s role in the Constitutional system; the length of service and turnover of justices on the Court; the membership and size of the Court; and the Court’s case selection, rules, and practices.
El Salvador’s president is battling US Democrats. He has Twitter spat and snubs visiting Biden envoy Aides to El Salvador, saying he refuses to meet with a visiting senior U.S. diplomat over what he sees as a pattern of slights from Democrats and the Biden administration.
“El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele refused to meet with a visiting senior U.S. diplomat this week over what he sees as a pattern of slights from Democrats and the Biden administration, according to two aides of the Central American leader,” Joshua Goodman wrote.
The Democrats have a disaster on their hands with their open border policies that are causing a firestorm of controversy in the United States and for the entire North American continent, leaving a trail of destroying lives over laziness and greed on the part of the Democrats.
“Bukele’s decision not to meet with Ricardo Zuniga, the Biden administration’s envoy to the so-called Northern Triangle countries of Central America, follows a similar snub he allegedly received from U.S. officials during an unannounced trip to Washington in February,” according to ABC News.
El Salvador President Nayib Bukele refusing to meet Biden officials amid criticism of country https://t.co/dRWq5zbTka
It also comes just days after Bukele’s government awarded $1.2 million lobbying contract to the State Department’s former top career diplomat in a bid to improve ties with the new American president.
Zuniga traveled Wednesday to El Salvador following talks in Guatemala focused on immigration amid a surge in child migrants on the U.S. border. Upon arrival, he immediately announced a $2 million U.S. contribution to an international commission seeking to strengthen the fight against corruption, which Biden officials see as one of the root causes of illegal immigration.
The Biden administration’s interventionist approach towards El Salvador shows a great lack of respect for our country and our president.
Specifically, the two said Bukele was angered by State Department spokesman Ned Price’s comments Monday that the U.S. looks forward to Bukele restoring a “strong separation of powers where they’ve been eroded and demonstrate his government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.”
But Bukele has told aides that he won’t meet with any Biden officials until the U.S. softens criticism raising doubts about his commitment to democracy and the rule of law, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity given the diplomatic sensitivities.
NOT HAPPY WITH THE DEMOCRATS
El Salvador’s president is urging voters in a California congressional district to vote out its U.S. representative in the latest back-and-forth spat between the Central American head of state and one of Congress’ most vocal critics of the region’s leaders.
President Nayib Bukele and Democratic Rep. Norma Torres have been exchanging very undiplomatic barbs on Twitter this week.
Torres, who was born in Guatemala, fired the first salvo Wednesday when she retweeted a disturbing video released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection showing two toddler sisters being dropped into the United States by smugglers straddling a 14-foot-tall border wall. The two were picked up by U.S. agents and given medical attention.
Along with a link to the video, Torres tweeted — in Spanish — that the incident is “a great shame for the governments of #Guatemala #Honduras #ElSalvador their compatriots deserve governments that are truly committed to fighting corruption and narco[trafficking]!”
The two girls, ages 3 and 5, are from Ecuador, not any of the three countries Torres mentioned. The majority of the unaccompanied minors currently coming across the U.S. border are from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, collectively known as the Northern Triangle of Central America, according to CBP.
El Salvador’s Bukele, an avid Twitter user, hit back fast with his own Spanish-language tweet. “Look ma’am, did you read that the children are from ECUADOR and not from EL SALVADOR? Also, this happened on the border of Mexico with the United States. What does El Salvador have to do with this?”
The Salvadoran president then told Torres that she should buy some glasses with a portion of her “financier’s checks.”
Most Americans would side with the President of El Salvador.
The mayor of North Las Vegas has made the switch from the Democratic party to the Republican party after the latest election saw all socialists win and they then selected radical so0cialist leaders, leaving regular Democrats like Mayor John Lee out in the cold. it was too much for him and he pulled the trigger on the change of party.
He already was pro-life and pro-gun and held beliefs similar to Republicans, but he had been a lifelong Democrat.
“In the Democratic Party of Nevada, they had an election recently for leadership, and four of the five people were card-carrying members of the socialistic [sic] party. It’s not the party that I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it’s not the party I can stand with any more.”
Lee was referring to elections for statewide officers in the party. The socialists put forth a slate of candidates and most of them won, taking over the heart and soul of the Democratic party in Nevada.
“The working class, the working men and women of this country and also the small business owners are not a part of the conversation any more. It all has to do with the elitists and it all has to do with the socialists. That is not the agenda that I have in mind for this country or the future.”
“When you’re a pro-life Democrat, a pro-gun Democrat, and you’re a very conservative person, that’s not really well known in the Democratic Party any more. And so for me to hang on as long as I did, hoping the party would change, it didn’t, it got worse.”
“So therefore, I found a new place that I can put my allegiance to and help. Once again, forget about the last eight years. It’s the next four years that predict the future.”
One has to wonder if this will drive more elected officials from the Democratic party but I seriously doubt it because this is where the entire party is headed as witnessed by Biden’s radical agenda.
Even more moderate Democrats with a lust for power will hold out and just go with the flow.
On the same day that the Senate Parliamentarian told Chuck Schumer that he could pass Biden’s so-called infrastructure bill through the reconciliation process, Sen Joe Manchin of WV drove a wooden stake through the bill’s heart by declaring that he was against the bill because of the increase in the corporate tax rate.
To make matters worse for Schumer (A practice I heartedly endorse) there are more Democratic Senators who will not vote for the bill.
After Democratic governors locked down their states and devastated their economies is hardly the time to put more pressure on an already shaky system.
The bill is supposed to raise money to pay fo0r the liberal wish list with no upside whatsoever. But, there is no guaranty that the bill would raise nearly the amount Biden and the Democrats are counting on since many corporations would move out of the country and could mean fewer taxes and not more.
Biden’s plan would raise corporate taxes from 21% to 28%.
When President Trump cut the rate from 35%, he unleashed the economy and the country saw the unemployment rate hit new lows but Biden insisted that the opposite would not be true.
Best of all, the unemployment rates for Blacks and Hispanics hit all-time lows. Democrats claim the lowest unemployment among Blacks happened under their watch until they were told slavery doesn’t count.
Sen. Joe Manchin, an influential centrist Democrat, warned Monday that the Biden administration’s massive infrastructure package can’t pass in its current form because he and a handful of other Senate Democrats believe the corporate tax hikes proposed in the bill — designed to offset its costs — are too steep.
“As the bill exists today, it needs to be changed,” he told West Virginia Metro News host Hoppy Kercheval in a radio interview when asked if he supported or opposed President Joe Biden’s $2.25 trillion proposal.
Manchin said he is against raising the current 21% corporate tax rate — which was put in place by the 2017 tax overhaul under the Trump administration — to 28% as called for in the bill and instead supports a middle ground 25% rate, which he called “fair.”
The West Virginia senator said he would use the “leverage” he has in the 50-50 Senate to demand changes before voting to take up the bill, which has been introduced but expected to go through weeks or months of negotiations before being debated on the floor.
CBS should be sued by Gov Ron DeSantis for intentionally lying about their interview with DeSantis in which liar for hire Sharyn Alfonsi and falsely accusing him of being in a pay for play scheme with Publix Supermarkets over the COVID-19 vaccines. CBS heavily edited the interview to make it appear that DeSantis was guilty. Even Democrats are coming to his defense and calling CBS liars. CBS could sue for defamation of character.
DeSantis completely blew apart the accusation and explaining what really happened. CBS then selectively edited the interview. CBS removed the vast majority of DeSantis’ response in order to intentionally make an innocent man appear guilty. They tried to make Alfonsi’s lie hold up under scrutiny. She claimed that DeSantis pressured groups to use Publix after they gave him a $100,000 campaign donation.
Publix said in a scathing statement slamming the “60 Minutes” segment:
“The irresponsible suggestion that there was a connection between campaign contributions made to Governor DeSantis and our willingness to join other pharmacies in support of the state’s vaccine distribution efforts is absolutely false and offensive.”
“We are proud of our pharmacy associates for administering more than 1.5 million doses of vaccine to date and for joining other retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia to do our part to help our communities emerge from the pandemic.”
Former Florida State Representative Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat, slammed “60 Minutes” :
“@60Minutes I said this before and I’ll say it again. @Publix was recommended by [FL Division of Emergency Management] and [Florida Dept. Health] as the other pharmacies were not ready to start. Period! Full Stop! No one from the Governor[‘]s office suggested Publix. It’s just absolute malarkey.”
This is Jared Moskowitz, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. He’s a Democrat, served as one in the state legislature until 2019, and campaigned for Gore and Obama. He’s not falling for this absolute garbage, and neither should you. https://t.co/Ng3pyNI87W
Here is the complete answer DeSantis gave 60 Minutes with the words in bold type being left out of the video by CBS:
Ron DeSantis: —that, that’s a fake narrative. So, first of all, when we did, the first pharmacies that had it were CVS and Walgreens. And they had a long-term care mission. So they were going to the long-term care facilities. They got the vaccine in the middle of December, they started going to the long-term care facilities the third week of December to do LTCs. So that was their mission. That was very important. And we trusted them to do that. As we got into January, we wanted to expand the distribution points. So yes, you had the counties, you had some drive through sites, you had hospitals that were doing a lot, but we wanted to get it into communities more. So we reached out to other retail pharmacies — Publix, Walmart — obviously CVS and Walgreens had to finish that mission. And we said, we’re going to use you as soon as you’re done with that. For Publix, they were the first one to raise their hand, say they were ready to go. And you know what, we did it on a trial basis. I had three counties. I actually showed up that weekend and talked to seniors across four different Publix. How was the experience? Is this good? Should you think this is a way to go? And it was 100% positive. So we expanded it, and then folks liked it. And I can tell you, if you look at a place like Palm Beach County, they were kind of struggling at first in terms of the senior numbers. I went, I met with the county mayor. I met with the administrator. I met with all the folks in Palm Beach County, and I said, “Here’s some of the options: we can do more drive-through sites, we can give more to hospitals, we can do the Publix, we can do this.” They calculated that 90% of their seniors live within a mile and a half of a Publix. And they said, “We think that would be the easiest thing for our residents.” So, we did that, and what ended up happening was, you had 65 Publix in Palm Beach. Palm Beach is one of the biggest counties, one of the most elderly counties, we’ve done almost 75% of the seniors in Palm Beach, and the reason is because you have the strong retail footprint. So our way has been multifaceted. It has worked. And we’re also now very much expanding CVS and Walgreens, now that they’ve completed the long term care mission.
Moskowitz is not the only Democrat to condemn 60 Minutes.
“We have confronted this pandemic for over a year. Our residents, like all Americans, are tired. And the media is making it worse. They are hellbent on dividing us for cheap views and clicks. 60 Minutes should be ashamed.”
Kerner — who, again, is a Democrat — says 60 Minutes refused to talk to him. Yeah, because if they did, they’d have no story. At CBS News, facts just get in the way.
I don’t blame Mayor Kerner for being ticked off. What’s the conspiracy theory here? Publix donated to DeSantis, and in return he did some sort of shady deal to make them one of the places you can get vaccinated? Publix bribed DeSantis to be able to give out vaccines for free? And their incentive is… I dunno, tricking people into going to their stores and buying milk and bread, since they’re there anyway?
After it was revealed that the attacker at the Capitol was a Black Muslim rather than a white Christian the news media either dropped the story or did not reveal the attacker’s race or religion. But as it has been revealed that Noah
Green, the attacker is a follower of Louis Farrakhan it is reminding people of how many Democrats have close ties to Farrakhan including James Clyburn, D-S.C., Rep. Danny Davis, D-Ill, Sen. Raphael Warnock, and Rep Maxine Waters.
The deceased suspect, Noah Green, included photos and videos of Nation of Islam rallies on his Facebook page. He also identified himself as a Follower of Farrakhan on his Facebook page.
Green was killed by a Capitol Police officer after he had already killed on cop and has a second one fighting for his life. He rammed the barricades surrounding the US Capitol and then he got out of his car with a knife and that’s when he was shot.
Democrats with connections to0 Farrakhan and their ties are:
House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., shared a stage with Farrakhan in 2011. After the event, Clyburn told the Final Call, the Nation of Islam’s media arm, that he was “not bothered in the least bit” by people criticizing his appearance with Farrakhan. Clyburn’s office didn’t immediately return Fox News’ request for comment.
Rep. Danny Davis, D-Ill, praised Farrakhan in 2018 as “an outstanding human being” who “does outstanding things.” Davis also said he wasn’t bothered by Farrakhan’s position on “the Jewish question,” before later mildly distancing himself from the Nation of Islam leader.
Georgia Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock has also spoken positively about Farrakhan’s group. Warnock, in 2013, said the Nation of Islam’s “voice has been important for the development of Black theology.” Warnock’s office didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif, has longstanding ties to Farrakhan and was seen on video hugging the Nation of Islam leader. \
Farrakhan praised suicide bombers:
“The Palestinians have nothing to defend themselves with, so they’re so exhausted and exasperated, think about that, strapping bombs to themselves, making themselves a weapon.”
“And then for the world to get upset because Iran or somebody is trying to send them some weapons. Wait a minute. If you were Jewish and you saw unarmed Jews being persecuted, wouldn’t you come to your brothers’ aid? Do you expect Muslims to see their brothers suffering like that and not come to their aid?”
On Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle” on Friday night, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) blasted the Coca-Cola company for caving and jumping on the #MeTooAfraid movement after the Georgia legislature passed a bill to ensure election integrity in the wake of the 2020 Presidential election theft that every fact-checker reading this knows is true.
The senator from Kentucky pointed out that there are self-evident differences in what the Democrats are saying about the legislation and what is actually written in the legislation. In short, they’re lying, and that includes the president of the United States, Joe Biden.
“There is a distinction between in-person and by mail,” Paul said.
“All of these proposals are to trying to make it easy to vote but hard to cheat,” Paul said to host Laura Ingraham. “I’ve been involved with this. I’ve communicated with people in all 50 state legislatures, I’ve called them on the phone. I’ve talked to the conservative ALEC [American Legislative Exchange Council] group about this, and we’ve now passed it in Kentucky and we actually had more early voting days added, so it’s easier to vote, but you vote in person.
“There is nothing Jim Crow about this. In fact, what is very insulting and really just gets to me is they are implying that people of certain races are not able to comply with rules, show up, or have a driver’s license or figure this out.”
Paul added that people who implicitly believe that certain groups of voters (black people) would be disenfranchised by stipulations like obtaining a photo ID are “very racist in their thinking.” In fact, it never made sense to people with three-digit IQs when the Democrats first came out with the idea that voter ID was racist. Black people use ID every day to do common things in this country. Democrats are evil but they’re not that bright, and I think they were incapable of coming up with another argument to make, so they used their #1 weapon: play the race card.
“They think there are certain groups of our people who are incapable of following basic rules,” Rand continued. “I don’t think it’s true. I think the trend lines for all the different races voting have been good in our country for 20 or 30 years and all these election bills do is try to make it easier to vote but harder to cheat.”
Voter ID also secures the integrity of the vote for black people and people of color, just like everyone else. It’s across-the-board protection and isn’t that exactly what we want? Those nasty evil Republicans can’t steal their vote if there’s voter ID. That’s the argument that makes it so ridiculous on the face of it when Democrats call voter ID racist. It’s because voter ID really tamps down their ability to cheat in elections and Democrats absolutely 100% want to cheat.
Senator Paul likened what’s going on here to the extortion racket saying, “Jesse Jackson would do it years ago.” He continued, “He would protest in front of a big corporation that wasn’t doing anything wrong until they gave money to his organization, and then the protest would leave the organization.
“That’s what they are doing, they think they can bully.”
That’s what Cancel Culture is. It’s a bunch of losers who get a thrill out of being able to destroy someone’s life. They don’t care if there’s a reason to do it or if the reason they are using is legitimate or not. They feel power stomping on an innocent person and it makes them look like they truly are a legitimate member of the Woke Supremacy.
“Now Coca-Cola are telling people to apologize for being White, apologize for being arrogant, apologize for all of these things supposedly that white people are doing, and that’s a very racist sort of philosophy,” he said. “It’s this Woke sort of Critical Race Theory, but it’s now infected a publicly-traded company, and when they start saying things like that, they are actually going against what their mandate is. Their mandate is to maximize profit, but now they are turning off 40% of the country who don’t really want to be woke up and told that we’re horrible people.”
Critical Race Theory teaches that a certain group of people are inherently (read genetically) racist; they were born that way. Folks, that is the very definition of racism.
One of the hardest things in the world to do is to get Democrat6s to turn down campaign contributions yet this week three of them did.
It’s not that they didn’t want the money it’s because they did not want to be associated with the donor. And who was that donor? AOC. The three Democrats, Reps. Carolyn Bourdeaux, D-Ga., Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., and Conor Lamb, D-Penn – have all declined the money are committed themselves to return it.
It’s not hard to figure out why. By the time the 2022 midterms roll around, voters will be upset with their socialistic policies and any candidate that wants to not be smeared by the socialist tag cannot accept money from AOC.
Recently, a nonpartisan group from Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia ranked members of the house for effectiveness. AOC ranked 230th among the 240 Democrats in the House.
All three Democrats who rejected the donations are in vulnerable House swing districts and they are all considered to be endangered in 2020. Normally threatened reps will scarf up every penny they can unless the donor is problematic and sometimes not even then.
AOC is on the endangered list herself as New York is expected to lose one or two seats and the rumor has been going around for two years that her seat will be one of the possible two seats the Democrats will abandon.
She would either have to run in a district with an incumbent Democrat or run for higher office. But, she has very little support outside of her district. But I am sure she will try something.
Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign reportedly received wire transfer information from DCCC staffers without the higher-ups’ approval. Typically, vulnerable members will swoop up any financial boost they can find, but this time the donations came unsolicited and with no warning.
Staff at the DCCC reportedly did not foresee the double-edged sword of tying the controversial congresswoman to the party’s most vulnerable members in the House.
DCCC spokesman Chris Hayden did not talk about the specifics of the payments with POLITICO, but called the money transfers a “miscommunication.”
“We appreciate Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s ongoing commitment to a Democratic majority,” said Hayden. “Due to a miscommunication, some transfers were made in error, but that has been addressed.”
2022 is shaping up to be the perfect storm for House Democrats. As a result, some have decided to0 retire such as Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ) and Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX).
Others have their eyes set on higher office including Rep. Conor Lamb (D-PA) and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH). there are many reasons why they are running for the doors as quickly as they can. Combined, those reasons look overwhelming.
The Republicans picked up 14 seats in the 2020 election even though predictions were that they would pick up 10 to 15 seats.
The second is redistricting which works out to the Republican’s advantage and the one reason no one is talking about is the 800-pound gorilla in the room, the extremist far-left agenda which puts everyone but Americans first.
Do not be surprised if some of them retire early to keep from voting for the agenda.
It is beginning to look like 2010 all over again after the Obama/Biden administration pushed a similar extremist agenda and Democrats went on to lose 63 House Seats and 5 Senate seats. To make matters worse is that recruiting candidates for 2022 could prove very difficult as no one wants to risk their political lives in swing districts. On the other hand, the Republicans will have no such problem.
Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA), who is close to swinging district Democrats, told Politico:
“Everyone in this place is always thinking about what they’re going to do in the future. But certainly, I know that’s affecting the thinking of a lot of people.”
Politico reports Rep. Conor Lamb (D-PA) and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) are looking to run for higher office due to their districts becoming redder. Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) is thought to be at less of a risk of being vulnerable.
In an interview with Politico, Ryan admitted redistricting might make it more difficult for him to represent any part of blue-tinted Summit County, which includes the city of Akron, leaving him with a less favorable landscape. “I may not be able to get that piece of Summit, and any other direction you go in is pretty red. It could be harder,” Ryan said.
According to reports, Lamb recently has been beefing up his fundraising operation ahead of 2022 in addition to hiring two consultants.
