Seventeen police officers were injured in mostly peaceful protests in Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago, including one who was beaten with an extremely peaceful skateboard. At least 24 people were arrested but with Kim Foxx as the prosecutor, none of them may get charged. In three years Foxx has dismissed over 25,000 felony charges. That includes Jussie Smollett.
Seventeen officers were injured but only four people were arrested for assaulting officers. Officers used pepper spray on the rioters and some used their batons. Until the police can use the same tactics as the rioters and Chicago gets a real prosecutor I see little hope for the future. Just write them off as a failed city and move on.
The following video footage shows the initial incident that sparked yesterday’s violence and arrests, as well as the aggravated battery against a CPD officer with a skateboard. More video will be released throughout the day as it is received. pic.twitter.com/oW7Z3oGKSZ
The city once again had to raise the bridges to keep out more of the rioters but by that time they were already there. Locking the barn after the horse got out.
Here at The Bean in #MillenniumPark where protesters have gathered with the following demands:
1. Take CPD out of CPS
2. Cancel the ICE Citizens Academy
3. Reallocate funds towards e-learning & community centers
4. Universities cut ties with ICE #ChicagoProtestspic.twitter.com/RP9TYLxrxK
Lightfoot went on television to downplay the riots:
“What we’ve seen in cities all across the country, not just Chicago, is a continuing wave of protests. The vast majority of these have been peaceful. But what we’ve also seen is people who have embedded themselves in these seemingly peaceful protests and come for a fight.”
The Chicago Police Department has banned protesters from Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s residential block.
Officers are to arrest anyone protesting near her residence. Police presence has been heavy, barricades have been established, and IDs are even being checked to allow residents in while keeping potentially violent protesters out.
Lightfoot has defended the police actions which protect her home, referencing threats that have been made against her, her wife, and their home on a daily basis.
“I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis…understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,” said Lightfoot.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Lightfoot receives 24/7 protection from officers, including officers that are stationed at her home. The police presence blocking protesters from entering the neighborhood adds to that protection.
Lightfoot defended the police presence unapologetically: “I’m doing everything I can to make sure they’re protected,” she said of her home and family. “I make no apologies whatsoever for that.”
Mayor Lightfoot has been criticized for her handling of Chicago riots in recent weeks and her insistence that protests have been largely peaceful, despite great violence in the Chicago area at the hands of protesters.
Protests nationwide have flooded from downtown streets of major cities into residential neighborhoods since demonstrations began in late May in response to the death of George Floyd.
Most notably, Black Lives Matter protesters have marched through neighborhoods in Hugo, Minnesota and St. Louis, Missouri.
Mark and Patricia McCloskey have been in legal battles since July when they stood on their front lawn with guns in their hands to defend their home and property. Protesters had smashed through the gates to their gated community and were trespassing on their front lawn.
In Hugo, Minnesota, hundreds of protesters marched through a police union leader’s neighborhood, screaming at local residents through microphones and smashing open pinatas in effigy of the police union leader on his own driveway.
Chicago is the kind of town where you even Brian Williams would not have to lie about dodging bullets. Survivor….Chicago has been canceled solely because no one survived. Under the leadership or rather the lack thereof of Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the numbers are simply exploding.
Last week 50 were shot and seven were killed in Chicago, including a pregnant woman and a five-month-old baby. In the past, President Trump has offered to send help but Lightfoot refused him, claiming he would make it worse. How could it possibly get worse? But still, Lightfoot insists that the shootings in Chicago are the president’s fault, not hers.
When you allow rioters to have their own way and you avoid prosecuting them like the plague, what other results could you possibly expect? When there is no punishment for bad behavior, it encourages that behavior to be repeated time and time again. In fact, it gets worse because the bad guy’s test to see if there are limits on their indulgence.
ABC in Chicago pointed out in the middle of the weekend there had been fifty shootings, including seven teenage boys. In conservative cities experiencing these kinds of numbers (Although none ever do) the city leaders would be making plans. In Chicago, they only make excuses.
On Friday night, rioters attacked a statue of Christopher Columbus and in the process injured 18 police officers. Did Lightfoot call for their arrest and conviction? Surely you jest.
Saturday night Chicago Fraternal Order of Police president John Catanzara, posted an open letter to federal authorities:
“Mayor Lightfoot has proved to be a complete failure who is either unwilling or unable to maintain law and order here. I would be willing to sit down anytime and discuss ideas about how we can bring civility back to the streets of Chicago. These politicians are failing the good men and women of this city and the police department.”
Lightfoot replied by blaming Trump:
“If you really wanted to help the city, let’s start with the fact that you would weigh-in, Mr. President, on common sense… gun reform. It makes no sense that people from Chicago can go across the border to Indiana and buy military-grade weapons and bring them back to our city and kill our children.”
Here is my question. If Indiana is truly the problem, why are there no mass killings in Indiana like they have every weekend in Chicago?
We just celebrated Easter over the weekend, that time of year when Christians joyfully observe that Jesus Christ returned from the dead and saved all of our souls from eternal damnation. In Chicago, Jesus wept.
Seven people have were shot and killed with at least 27 others left wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago over Easter weekend. Was there a war? No, it’s just Chicago.
About 11:25 pm Easter night, a 45-year-old man was found in the 6800-block of South Throop Street in Englewood on the South Side with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, according to Chicago police. The man was incapable of giving details of the shooting because of the severity of his injuries.
According to police, he was pronounced dead after being taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Details have not yet been released on this man’s death by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Another man fatally shot, and a second man was critically wounded during a shooting Easter morning in Roseland on the South Side.
What is happening to our society? How can the new leaders of Washington, DC cry out about a pandemic of so-called white supremacy systemically across America and yet they do and say nothing about groups of black people in Chicago being murdered weekend after weekend after weekend?
A 31-year-old man was in an argument with two people around 1:30 in the morning in the 200-block of West 108th Street when one person fired multiple shots at him, Chicago police said.
The man was hit 14 times with gunshot wounds to the upper body and he was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, according to police. “Christ” Medical Center on Easter weekend to die needlessly.
A 45-year-old man as a good Samaritan tried to intervene, and he too was also shot, according to police. For his efforts, the man got two gunshot wounds to his chest and was taken to the same hospital as the man he tried to help in critical condition.
In West Town on Saturday night, a 24-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting. Around 7:25 pm, he was standing in an alley in the 2000-block of West Maypole Avenue, when a man approached him, pulled out a gun, and fired several shots at him, police said. The man was hit once in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
Guess what? On Saturday morning another person was shot on the Kennedy Expressway in Avondale on the North Side around 6:35 am as he drove south on I-90 close to Belmont. According to Illinois State Police he was transported to a local hospital. Luckily the man sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
At around 5:15 in the morning, a 25-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting in Cragin on the Northwest Side in the 5000 block of West Deming Place. He was hit in the abdomen and driven to Illinois Masonic Hospital. He is in critical condition.
Around 3:30 Saturday morning, a man who was a passenger in a vehicle was shot in the Loop on Lower Wacker Drive. Police said the man heard gunshots and suddenly felt pain. He was shot in the knee and taken to Stroger Hospital and is in stable condition.
The weekend started out horribly for a 29-year-old man in Roseland on the South Side when around 10 pm he was shot in the 10400 block of South Corliss Avenue. This guy was resourceful and got himself to Roseland Hospital after being shot in the shoulder. Luckily, he is in stable condition.
A little over two hours prior to that, another person was seriously injured in a shooting in Austin on the West Side where the 54-year-old man was standing near a home around 7:45 pm in the 1700 block of North Mason Ave. when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his leg. He was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood according to police and is listed in serious condition.
Twenty-five other people, maybe more by now, were wounded in shootings across the city between 5 pm Friday and 5 am Monday.
Chicago is not a city of peace. It is the skunk of Hell, and it’s high time Democrats, who have run the city since 1927, start giving a damn about all the killings going on in that city. They can’t continue lying about white supremacy being the biggest threat to black people in America when they do absolutely nothing at all about the scores of black Americans being murdered each weekend when there isn’t a white supremacist to be found for hundreds of miles.
In total, 36 people were shot and four of them died in Chicago on Easter weekend.
Two Black Teenaged girls carjacked a man and killed him in broad daylight as if they were playing a video game, with complete disregard for humanity, and callously walked by his dead and crumbled body looking for their phones in Washington DC. In Chicago, an Uber Passenger killed his Uber driver in a separate carjacking.
Numerous National Gaurd members stood by in DC, watching and then ran to help the teenagers as they climbed out of the car they stole, running back to get their phones while National Gaurd members tried to shelter them from something.
Posters on Twitter noticed a lack of concern or instinct by the National Gaurd, who are focused on a safety perimeter around the Nation’s Capitol.
The man, a Pakistani immigrant who was delivering food for Uber Eats, was dead on the scene. The DC Police issued the following statement:
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce two arrests have been made in reference to a Homicide and Armed Carjacking (Taser) offense that occurred on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in the 1200 block of Van Street, Southeast.
At approximately 4:31 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from life-threatening injuries. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 66-year-old Mohammad Anwar of Springfield, VA.
The Detectives’ investigation on the scene revealed that the suspects assaulted the victim with a taser while carjacking the victim, which resulted in a motor vehicle accident.
On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, a 13-year-old juvenile female of Southeast, DC, and a 15-year-old juvenile female of Fort Washington, MD, were arrested and charged with Felony Murder and Armed Carjacking (Taser).
Footage of the horrible murder went viral quickly, that clearly showed Anwar saying that it was his car and trying to get inside the car. At the same time, one of the girls in the front seat moved toward the driver’s side and accelerated the car, while he was hanging on, driving him into a wall and then ultimately turning the car over crushing him and sending flying violently into a wall.
The girls are seen crawling out of the car, and the National Gaurd members who were on the scene already were slow and bewildered about what was happening as a civilian was telling them what had happened.
The attack happened in the middle of the day, in the light of day, while armed law enforcement is camped out on the streets.
Crimes rates in the city of Washington DC are on the rise, and the morale of police is at an all-time low while under crushing policy changes by Democrats. As the media and public education elevate the Black citizens in something called Critical Race Theory to a status symbol and demoralize others, society is impacted, and it is the most vulnerable who suffer the most, according to some police officers I interviewed on Saturday.
“Many of us believe that crime is going to grow out of control, and there is nothing we can do about it,” one officer told me on Saturday.
UBER DRIVER IN CHICAGO KILLED
In Chicago, another man was shot and killed by his passenger trying to carjack him.
Chicago police are looking for a suspect after an Uber driver was shot and killed on the city’s West Side.
As they grieved, the emotional family of Javier Ramos pleaded for help to find his killer.”We are devastated. We are saddened. We are still in shock and disbelief,” said Hortencia Ramos, the victim’s cousin.
Known as Javy to friends, his family said the entrepreneur was trying to better himself, especially after recovering from a brain aneurysm he had a few years ago.
And while a close-knit community of those who knew and loved Ramos mourn his death, they also don’t want his violent passing to be in vain.
“This could have been anyone’s brother, anyone’s son, anyone’s father, anyone’s cousin,” Hortencia Ramos said.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delivered remarks on Wednesday in Atlanta Georgia at Georgia Institute of Technology.
The Following is a partial transcript:
Americans must know how the Chinese Communist Party is poisoning the well of our higher education institutions for its own ends, and how those actions degrade our freedoms and American national security. If we don’t educate ourselves, if we’re not honest about what’s taking place, we’ll get schooled by Beijing.
Now, it’s taken this country and indeed, the entire free world, a long time to understand the trajectory that China is on today. In fact, we’re not quite there yet everywhere in the world.
There’s no one to hold accountable for this. That’s not the important part. Because for a long time, Republicans, Democrats, leaders all across academia, institutions, commercial space thought that by trading and engaging with China that the Chinese Communist Party would reform itself, it would loosen up, it would embrace economic and political freedom, and it would present less risk to freedom around the world.
But instead, that’s not what we got. Instead, the Chinese communists used the wealth that was created by this to tighten their grip on power, their grip on power over the Chinese people, and to build a high-tech repressive state like the world has never seen.
General Secretary Xi Jinping has made clear his intentions. You only have to listen to what he says. He says he wants total control at home, and to make China the number-one power abroad. And he’s well on his way to working on that project.
He’s building up the People’s Liberation Army. He’s manipulating international organizations for Beijing’s benefit. And he’s engaging – as we have seen in TV only just these last two days, he’s engaging in a vast influence campaign all across the world.
And that may for some of you sitting at home today seem like a long ways away and very ambitious touch for Xi Jinping to make, but I must say he has his eye on each and every one of us.
Over the past year I’ve talked to America’s governors in Washington about this, state legislators in Wisconsin, tech leaders in Silicon Valley, and many other groups. I’ve gone out to talk to them about this challenge. And today, I want to talk about what’s happening in schools across America, especially research institutions and places like where I’m standing today.
Just think about it. Chinese Communist Party scientists aren’t pioneering cancer cures. We are. And it’s not North Korean biochemists that are producing safe COVID vaccines. We are. And Iranians aren’t ahead in supercomputing. No. In fact, we are. It is the free world and free peoples that produce these superior results. And we should be very proud of that fact.
But we have an obligation to protect it, to preserve it, to make sure that that’s the case 10 and 50 and 100 years from now.
Because on places like this campus, scientists have pioneered quantum computing, artificial intelligence, pediatric technology, even autonomous robots that can function without human control – and I must say that frightens me just a bit.
Look, the Chinese Communist Party knows it can never match our innovation. It has state-owned enterprises; it’s an authoritarian regime; it is a government-centric focus. That’s why it sends 400,000 students a year to the United States of America to study – 400,000 students a year studying in our universities come from one country. It is no accident.
Much of the high-end industrial base inside of China is based on stolen technology, or technology purchased from other nations. It’s not home-grown.
Beijing doesn’t want Chinese researchers to stay here in the United States. Indeed, after they’re trained, they want them to come back. They want to induce their return for the singular purpose of serving the Socialist Motherland.
Look, the Party’s propaganda apparatus cannot tolerate pesky Americans or Chinese nationals exposing its bankrupt system, or the fact that the Chinese people can actually flourish when they are in free societies.
It doesn’t want you to know what I’m about to tell you.
Now, let’s be clear. I want to be sure that my language is precise today. When I say “China,” I’m talking about the Chinese Communist Party. I love and value, as we all do, our Chinese American community, and the Chinese people that live here in the United States and those that live in China as well. We want good things for them.
And I say “genuinely” because of cases like Xin Wang, a researcher at the University of California at San Francisco, who allegedly lied about being a People’s Liberation Army officer, all the while collecting information on UC-SF labs. The good news is the FBI nabbed him.
And Ji Chaoqun studied electrical engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He tried to enlist in the United States Army. He allegedly omitted his ties to Chinese intelligence, which tasked him with recruiting engineers and scientists where he was working.
These are just two examples, but what’s more: the Chinese Communist Party deploys dollars just as much as it does cloaks and daggers to get its hands on valuable knowledge.
There are many American scholars – often doing research funded by American taxpayers – that have been lured into the Chinese Communist Party’s talent recruitment programs. The CCP pays them what is for them a fortune to do research related to their current fields for, or in, China – and then often uses the fruits of their brainpower to build its military strength.
A researcher from my home state of Kansas was caught up in this trap, as was the Harvard chemistry department head. Think about that.
The Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, recently described the CCP’s strategy as “rob, replicate and replace.”
But I want to add another “r” to the DNI’s list: I want to add “repress.”
Yang Shuping, a student from China, delivered a commencement address at the University of Maryland back in 2017, just a couple of years back now. She praised “the fresh air of free speech.” She was soon demonized and harassed by CCP propaganda – propaganda outlets. I promise you, while I cannot tell you everything, that was no coincidence.
One University of Georgia student said of the CCP secret police in 2018, quote, “They have harassed me repeatedly and asked me to give them information about the activities of overseas democracy activists and dissidents, [and] they are particularly interested in the activities of Uyghurs and Tibetans,” end of quote.
Some of the CCP’s biggest victims on campuses are innocent Chinese nationals themselves, and this is a tragedy. We have a responsibility to police this.
Another example: At Princeton, just this year, students in a Chinese politics class were forced to use code names on their work, lest the CCP discover their identities, and prosecute them for free expression of views on Hong Kong and the CCP under its draconian new national security law. That’s right here. This happened right here in the United States of America. American students.
American students talk about “safe spaces” as shelter from ideas they dislike. Chinese students need safe spaces to learn of the ideas that they love. What a stark contrast.
Students from China at American universities also live in fear that their families back home will be arrested, will be interrogated, tortured – or worse – because of things they say in an American classroom.
But look, the CCP doesn’t just target Chinese nationals. They want to influence American students as well, professors and administrators too.
Look, they know that left-leaning college campuses are rife with anti-Americanism, and present easy targets for their anti-American messaging.
That’s why they planted Confucius Institutes on our campuses. And under President Trump, our State Department has made very clear these Confucius Institutes are literally up to no good. Many have gone away. Many campuses have seen that and they’ve chosen to close down these institutes. But right here in Georgia, Wesleyan College still has one in Macon.
Look, it’s why there are groups on campuses called Chinese Students and Scholars Associations here too. They’re directed and almost always funded by the Chinese Embassy or a local Chinese consulate. Its purpose: to keep tabs on students and to press pro-Beijing causes.
Now, you would think at freedom-loving places like Georgia Tech and institutions and scholars all across the world, administrators, school faculty would be more up in arms about the Chinese Communist Party’s outright theft and flagrant violation of freedoms that I’ve described, but we see it too seldom.
Well, why? Why do schools censor themselves? They often do it out of fear of offending China.
Indeed I must tell you that MIT wasn’t interested in having me to their campus to give this exact set of remarks. President Raphael Reif implied that my arguments might insult their ethnic Chinese students and professors. But of course, nothing could further from the truth. These are the very people that this set of remarks is intended to protect, to protect their freedoms.
And I must say, the yielding to the objection of hurt feelings plays right into the Chinese Communist Party’s hands. They watch America closely. It’s what the party says constantly in response to legitimate criticism around the world. You can see it.
And how would the party know how the Chinese people feel anyway, as no one ever gets to vote?
Look, we can’t let the CCP weaponize political correctness against American liberties. We have to protect and preserve them.
Fraudulent cries of racism or Sinophobia should never drown out a candid exposure of the activities of the Chinese Communist Party.
But we see too often on American campuses that there is silence and censorship. It’s being driven by the Chinese Communist Party. It usually boils down to something far less idealistic. So many of our colleges are bought by Beijing.
Let me tell you about Vera Zhou.
She’s a permanent of the resident of the United States of America. She’s originally from China and a senior at the University of Washington.
In October of 2017, so just on three years ago, she returned to China to visit her father. Local authorities put her in a re-education camp, a re-education camp for five months and under house arrest for 18 months after using a virtual private network connection to connect to her school’s website, something many of you are doing even as I speak.
Back here, we saw this. Our State Department team; Vera’s mother; Bob Fu, a great friend of the Chinese people, desperately petitioned the University of Washington to advocate for her return.
But the University of Washington, a woman named Sarah Castro, head of the federal relations office, said – she said that the university wouldn’t help because of a multi-million dollar deal with China.
Now, thank God, Vera was eventually released and returned to the United States, but no thanks to the University of Washington and no thanks to the deal that it had made with the Chinese Communist Party.
The U.S. Department of Education over the last years has found that schools have taken an estimated $1.3 billion from China since 2013. That’s just what we know about. Like so many – like Columbia – so many schools that have failed to report the true amounts.
What more – what more bad decisions will schools make because they are hooked on Chinese Communist Party cash?
What professors will they be able to co-opt or to silence?
What theft and espionage will they simply overlook? What business deals will get done as a result of that?
Look, there’s a lot of work to do. And I have laid out a pattern and practice that every American needs to know about.
And we need to begin to respond to this sooner rather than later. And our administration has begun to do that, but there is an awful lot more work to do.
We cannot allow this tyrannical regime to steal our stuff, to build their military might and brainwash our people, or buy off our institutions to help them cover up these activities.
We cannot – we cannot let the CCP crush the academic freedom that has blessed our country and blessed us with great institutions like the place that I am standing today.
But we need your help.
We need help of students. We need help of faculty. We need help of administrations all across America. We need trustees to police their endowments and the deals their universities are striking with the CCP and CCP-backed groups.
We need administrators to close Confucius Institutes and investigate what so-called student groups backed by the CCP money are actually up to on their campuses. The government will help, but we need people to assist us.
We need researchers to be vigilant against fraud and theft, and the academic community to reject the CCP’s financial siren songs.
And we need students to truly stand for free speech – the free speech for themselves, those who grew up here in America, and especially the free speech of Chinese students who are on our campuses, who are here to study and learn and to improve their rights, their lives, and to enjoy the fruits of the freedom that we provide them here in the United States of America.
Look, we need you all to speak to truth to power in solidarity when administrations exert pressures on censorship as has so often happened to project deals – protect deals with Beijing.
Let’s do this. Let’s carry forward a banner of freedom to defend our schools, what these institutions were built upon. It will aid our national security. And from the central threat of our time, the Chinese Communist Party.
What I can say with certainty is that we’ve had the balance completely wrong for decades. That is, we had an open spigot for these risks to be present in our system without the balance and checks that are required. And so you see – if you watch what the Trump administration has done with respect to this, we still – this year it’s different because of the virus, but in 2021, 2022 there’ll be 350, 360,000 Chinese students that come to America.
We want these students here, but there has to be a process, there has to be a rigorous evaluation. And some of that is the responsibility of the United States Government to undertake and we have to do a better job of doing that, but we need institutions too that are transparent, that are clear, that are following the requirements, both Department of – U.S. Department of Education requirements, the requirements to make sure that U.S. property rights are protected in the way that you just described. If you have someone invent something, we want the fruits of that effort to benefit the United States of America and not end up being used to surveil American citizens in cities all across the world.
We’ve had the balance fundamentally wrong because there was this notion that there was no cost connected to permitting the risk that the Chinese Communist Party identified, the opportunity that they saw, and the efforts they have undertaken. You all would have seen – it’s been a few months back now – we want Chinese diplomats to be here engaged in diplomacy, but the Chinese Communist Party was using their consulate in Houston as a den of spies. And for an awfully long time, the United States just said we’re not going to do anything about that. That’s unacceptable. That’s unacceptable to the American people from a national security perspective, it’s unacceptable to the people of Houston and the businesses that are there that these so-called diplomats are out stealing their stuff, and so we did the work. We collectively – the United States Government did the work, identified the problem set, and solved the problem.
This is the model that we have to use. The model has been for an awfully long time they’re – it’s a big country, there’s enormous economic opportunity by engaging with them, let’s just do that and hope things turn out well. It’s too dangerous. The Chinese Communist Party has a mission set. We only need to listen to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s vision for global hegemony and the capacity that he has developed to actually execute. He has capability and intent. Those are the things that present risk to Americans, and we have a responsibility to take on these hard problems, to protect American freedom, to welcome citizens who want to come study at our universities from all across the world, but do so with an eye towards making sure that we do all the things that we are duty-bound to ensure that we protect.
The mother of Breonna Taylor mother, who was shot and killed by police during a drug raid, is accusing the Kentucky attorney general of abusing the grand jury system and she wants a new prosecutor who is “committed to properly investigating the case.”
“Grand jurors did not believe officers were justified in killing my daughter, yet A.G. Cameron denied them of their right to render a decision reflecting the same,” Tamika Palmer said in a letter written to the Kentucky Prosecutors Advisory Council on Wednesday.
Mind you, a grand jury is secret, and they have the power to decide whatever they want. There aren’t even lawyers in the room outside of the prosecutor. That means there are no defense attorneys allowed in a grand jury hearing, which pretty much renders Mr.s Palmer’s statement moot.
Taylor, a 26-year-old Black woman, was killed in March when three police officers attempted to serve a narcotics warrant at her home.
The officers had what is referred to as a no knock warrant, a warrant which says that the police have it upon good faith information that the suspect will be armed and dangerous and therefore they should not give away the element of surprise. But, the police entering the apartment that day did not use the no knock warrant, rather, they knocked on the door and identified themselves as police. Witnesses attest to that.
After knocking and identifying themselves, police then forcibly entered the dwelling, which was 100 percent legal.
After the officers knocked down her door, Breonna’s boyfriend started shooting at them, claiming fear of an intruder. Police returned fire to protect themselves hitting Taylor five times. She died. It was reported that the boyfriend used Breonna as a human shield in the hallway where the shooting occurred. No drugs were found.
A lot of speculation, some say lies, went around after the incident, some that Breonna and boyfriend were in bed when she was shot, and that was false. It was also said that the police didn’t knock and identify themselves, and that was false. In fact, if you want someone to blame for Breonna’s death take a look at the boyfriend, and Breonna herself. I know that sounds harsh, but she was with a known drug dealer who claims he thought the person coming through the door was Breonna’s ex-boyfriend who was also a drug dealer. It was known that Breonna would hold money, and/or drugs at her place for the boyfriend’s, because nobody was going to suspect the young woman would ever do such a thing.
Last month, Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced that the grand jury indicted one officer, Brett Hankison, on three counts of wanton endangerment because he fired negligently into a neighboring home. Cameron said that the “grand jury agreed” that the police officers were justified in firing the shots that killed Taylor because her boyfriend shot at them first.
Two of the grand jurors publicly denied Cameron’s appraisal this week. The anonymous jurors told CBS that they thought the officers’ actions were “negligent” and “criminal,” but Cameron never allowed them to consider manslaughter or murder charges.
“They never gave us the opportunity to deliberate on anything but the charges for Hankison. That was it,” one of them told Gayle King. “As a matter of fact, when they announced that those were the only charges, there was an uproar in that room. There were several more charges that could have gone forward on all of those officers.”
That’s called prosecutor discretion, and it works both ways. You know how the Soros-funded progressive prosecutors who do things bass ackwards, like Kim Gardner, the Circuit Attorney who charged the McCloskeys in Missouri for defending their home by brandishing weapons after a mob of rioters broke through a locked gate in their community and were threatening the couple. Or how about Kim Foxx in Chicago who suddenly dropped all charges against actor/singer Jussie Smollett, who also dropped over 25,000 cases at the beginning of her term? Well, Cameron decided that after witnesses said the police knocked and identified themselves, and after the boyfriend shot at police, they had the right to defend themselves, and if anyone should be charged with Ms. Taylor’s death it should be the boyfriend.
Palmer said that Cameron’s characterization of the decision made by the grand jury “flat out lies” in her letter. Of course she did, because she’s a grieving mother. No one expects a grieving mother to see things clearly.
“At a minimum, my daughter deserves, as do all aggrieved victims, a competent and capable prosecution team which is committed to properly investigating the case, evaluating the law from an unbiased lens, presenting the evidence and allowing the grand jurors to perform the functions guaranteed to them under the law,” she wrote.
In other words, a prosecutor is only competent if they go after the police for doing their job.
Cameron defended himself against the growing criticism, stating that he stands by the findings. Once again, the facts make it difficult for a normal thinking person to believe the police murdered a young woman for no reason or that Breonna’s death occurred due to police negligence. The facts of the case are the police knocked on the door and identified themselves. Breonna’s boyfriend shot at police as they were entering the home, and police returned fire to protect themselves. These are the facts.
“The tragedy, and I’ve said this from the beginning, was that Breonna Taylor was in that hallway next to Kenneth Walker when they returned fire and they hit her,” he told Fox News earlier this month. “No one disputes that this is a tragedy, but sometimes our criminal law is inadequate to respond to a tragedy.”
Taylor’s death became a movement and started a wave of national protests against police brutality, even though there was no police brutality according to the findings. This is the topsy-turvy world we live in now where up is down, wrong is right, and right now wrong.
May Breonna rest in peace, but may her death be a lesson to all that being associated with drug dealers could end up getting you killed.
Social Justice, defunding the police and further diving America by race. Just like his mentor, Barak Hussein Obama, a Biden administration would destroy communities of color, attack American history and chase manufacturing out with high taxes and regulations.
As in Baltimore, Chicago, and Portland, lawlessness has been allowed to fester and locals have lost all understanding of basic Civics, which leads to more conflict and police shootings.
The unrest in Philadelphia began after two officers shot and killed an armed Black man, Walter Wallace, Jr. Video shot by a witness shows Wallace approaching two police officers around a car and into a street. Officers ordered Wallace repeatedly to drop the knife before firing.
Wallace continued approaching the retreating officers with the knife extended toward the police. Multiple shots rang out and Wallace fell to the ground. A responding police officer loaded Wallace into a vehicle and drove him to the hospital. He later died from his wounds.
So in pursuit of social justice on night one – hundreds of opportunists destroyed business and looted stores like Walmart.
On Tuesday night the two domestic terrorist groups, BLM and ANTIFA, clashed as they both wanted to take lead on who should lead the protest in Philadelphia. Following a short altercation, the two factions decided to go separate ways.
Interesting since they both have funding from socialist groups funded by Gorge Soros, but I guess they did not get the memo are both on the same side. The reality is BLM inc is about burning down the American traditional culture, including defunding police and redefining the nuclear family unit.
“Current scene in Philadelphia where a couple hundred BLM/ANTIFA came to march for Walter Wallace,” Savanah Hernandez tweeted. “Inner fighting between the two groups resulted in the two marches splitting off.”
The dispute led to the destruction of at least one Black Lives Matter flag by a person wearing black bloc. The argument seemed to be based on what direction the protesters should take.
Journalist Elijah Schaffer tweeted a different view of the skirmish.
“PHILLY: black bloc anarchists, black lives matter, & socialists get into a fight over who should lead the protest and where to head,” Schaffer tweeted. “They were actively pushing press back to prevent people from filming.”
Elijah later while documenting the looting took a beating, telling Glenn Beck on his radio show Wednesday morning, that the mob was only attacking white journalists calling them white supremist while beating them.
So there you have it folks.
This is what a far-left controlled city, when left to itself looks like.
The anarchists use events like a shooting of a local man, who was chasing police officers with a knife, to loot and burn down the city.
Any help coming, not from the state. Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Wolf Calls Mass Rioting and Looting “Peaceful Protests” — 30 Stores Looted, Reporters and Police Attacked.
This is not hyperbole, if Joe Biden is elected, this will become the norm in most major cities. Will lead to massive debt, expedited city erosion, and crime as we have never seen on a large-scale within our borders.
With President Trump’s re-election, the investments the administration has in motion can start to improve the lives of those in these failing cities, but only if the people wake up and vote their failed politicians out.
After seeing the [yet to be substantiated by a 3rd party] emails coming out of the hard drive that the New York Post has been publishing, it is no wonder that Joe Biden is critical of the police. If my son were a (former?) crack addict (he may currently be sober, I’m not sure, but we have not seen him since the email scandal broke, so my GUESS is that he is either in rehab again, or on another bender, again, however this is just conjecture) I would be skeptical of people whose job is to enforce the law too.
If the allegation of pay for play as VP are true, there is even more reason for Joey B to run down the police. All kidding aside, I would guess that Joe is only saying what his campaign advisors are telling him to say. His would be constituents, his ‘base’ if you will, are out in the streets causing billions in propter damage, and some are claiming it is their right. Some go so far as to call their theft ‘reparations.’
Well, now police around the nation have had enough after Biden’s latest comments about law enforcement. The man who once said ‘”[If] you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door,”‘ is now telling cops what they should be doing when their lives are on the line.
During an ABC News town hall Thursday, Biden gave the shooting advice while talking about broader police reforms, which have been on the public conscience since the killing of George Floyd sparked nationwide racial unrest.
“There’s a lot of things we’ve learned and it takes time, but we can do this,” Biden said. “You can ban chokeholds … you have to teach people how to de-escalate circumstances. … Instead of anybody coming at you and the first thing you do is shoot to kill, you shoot them in the leg.”
Police officers and law enforcement groups pounced on the suggestion that officers would train to shoot someone in the leg rather than “center mass,” the largest part of the body that has long been the firearms training target.
John Evans, president of the Buffalo Police Benevolent Association, told Fox News that Biden’s suggestion is “absolutely ridiculous” and “incredibly ignorant.”
“The guy’s clueless,” Evans said. “And I know he’s just trying to appease his left-wing base but it’s a really foolish statement.”‘
Joe Gamaldi, vice president of the national Fraternal Order of Police, dismissed Biden’s suggestion as “completely ridiculous, “unrealistic” and a “pandering talking point.”
Police are trained to aim at center mass because it’s the largest target, whereas aiming at a leg would be much more difficult because it’s smaller and a moving target.
“By aiming at legs we are much more likely to miss and we already only hit roughly 50% of the time,” Gamaldi said.’
What more proof do you need that Joe Biden, in his ivory tower, is out of touch with the men and women who actually ‘protect and serve’ our communities? Instead of looking out for American citizens his instinct is to protect illegal entrant to America.
Instead of looking out for the men and women who risk their lives to keep the streets safe, he rips cops and sides with criminals, IMHO.
The choice in November could not be more clear. Do you want to vote for someone whose supporters are criminals, illegals and violent rioters? Or, would you prefer to vote for Western Civilization? The ball is in your court America.
